❗️⚠️🇯🇵 - A magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck off the coast of Aomori Prefecture in northeastern Japan, registering an intensity of upper 6 on the Japanese seismic scale in affected areas.

Nuclear power plants impacted by the quake are undergoing safety checks.

Tsunami warnings have been issued for coastal regions, with possible waves up to three meters high in northeast Japan. Areas in red on alert maps are under tsunami warnings, while those in yellow are under advisories.

Evacuations are underway along much of the northeastern coast. Sirens and loudspeakers have urged immediate evacuation in northern Japan.

In Samemachi, northern Japan, an evacuation order covers 1,896 households, affecting 3,644 people.
