90% of unvaccinated ppl exposed to measles will become infected. On avg 1 in 5 are hospitalized. The vaccines are safe and effective and this has been reinforced in studies worldwide for decades. Many of the hospitalized in prior outbreaks were babies too young to be vaccinated.
