@sculdercore That because this discourse is not actually about disability at all. People just use “ableism” as a shield to hide from criticism of their selfishness and entitlement
this is what i mean when i say fic/fandom culture is being DESTROYED by a consumerist mindset. 5 months is nothing to wait for authors who are real people with real lives but their art doesn't matter people just need to consume. they want CONTENT everything is just content
The way I have to accept that 1/4 of the world has had nearly all of their native civilizations and centuries of histories/culture destroyed and gone forever so Europeans could prop up their colonies and slave trade always breaks my mind when I think about it
i fear that the word ‘performative’ is losing its meaning. with how it’s being used rn in online/fandom spaces one could argue that every single person is performative.
this is what their silence is welcoming btw. under a tweet of me explaining how important this band has been to me throughout my life. and how the silence upsets me. and this was the loving reply given back. silence invites violence.
Maybe I’m not woke enough but it’s crazy to me that the word “performative” is being thrown around this fandom rn when any attention to the problem is better than nothing and most of you do nothing except sit and tweet on your phones all day🤨
@mwritesdragons “which list is longer” and there’s such a discrepancy between the two lists. you made a point to elaborate on the things you loved and yet said you didn’t love their lack of communication on “issues”, which fails to communicate the severity of the aforementioned issues. it’s odd.
i love so much about this band. their performance & energy on stage. their lyrics. the goofy moments. the story they've told. the community they've given me. their music's range
i don't love their silence on issues & lack of communication outside of lore
which list is longer?
at this point any activism in any small dose that’s uploaded to the internet nowadays is performative to you all so how about we stop policing what a good activist is on twitter and go outside. donate. boycott even
