This past weekend we said our official goodbyes to my younger brother. I know that at some level, I’ll never really say goodbye. Right now I cannot possibly bring myself to that finality, but my faith also says it’s really just a ‘see you later’. Whatever, it sucks & feels unreal
Bro, I live with the peace of knowing you are healed. May your second heavenly birthday in two days be filled with you playing jazz with your friends and all those greats you admire. Send us a tune if you get a chance and “Let’s Cool One”.
Love ya forever.
One year ago today I made the longest trip I have ever made from Houston to Dallas. My brother was in ICU with little to know hope and I was trying to get there. I had gotten a late start and I was exhausted. Cont.
At one of my final stops I saw my mom’s daily family email letting everyone know that pneumonia and Covid, exacerbated by damaged kidneys from multiple myeloma had lost his battle. I still miss him like crazy and my heart goes out to his wife and 2 amazing sons.
@BethMooreLPM our baby black vultures raised in our front yard this year. Getting close to flying.
@amandafortini I so enjoy your pictures, I thought I would share one of mine with you.
@VoteMeHarder@united@landondonovan Had a United pilot stay in gate during thunderstorms (hours long delay) because he didn’t want to be in line and then just have to turn around to pick up new crew. So grateful!
@steviemoose1@united@landondonovan During storm on United waiting to leave. Pilot was aware enough to not pull out of gate. He could tell it would be a long delay & he allowed people to come & go. He knew he had crew that would time out & had he gotten in line we would have had to u-turn and come back to gate.
@birdy_bird1@walterkirn Also not a UFC fan, I have only seen clips but it was all so wonderfully “American” and that is what I loved about it. Sport, spectacle, and an amazing flyover. Congratulations to all who made it happen. And just to grind some gears, Happy Birthday Mr. President!
I want to introduce you to Steve. He’s 83. His wife died a few months ago and he comes to this lodge in Spring Mill, Indiana and draws. He taught art in Terre Haute, IN his whole life. He also did courtroom sketches in court cases. In the comments I’ll share some pics from his sketchbook. He was excited when I said I was going to share his sketches with the world.
@TheEXECUTlONER_@BlondeOfWar I grayed fairly early. Had better things to do with my $ than color my hair. Besides I taught high school for 23 years, I figured I earned every last one of those gray hairs and any wrinkles I have as well. To each his own!
@BLLaps@exjon Agreed. Give them a party, but stop calling it graduation. I taught high school for years and graduation loses some of its meaning when you’ve already “graduated” a bunch of times from preschool on up. Especially when they start to think they’ll graduate no matter what.
