There is something to romantic about old man Djokovic, dragging the best of everything he's got left out through a compromised game. Even if he's not winning this tournament after this match, I'd really, truly, like him to win this match at least.
The government’s case that Google invested in Nadiem’s Gojek in exchange for laptop contracts is collapsing. Even Google executives have testified there was no link. Yet the trial marches on. Why? Because in this system, the verdict is often signed before the first witness speaks. 6/10 https://t.co/wpZGxBomGq
We’re seeing the same elite network I saw in ’93. They don't use tanks anymore but the Attorney General’s Office. They wait until a disruptor like Nadiem loses his political cover, then they strike to remind the technocrats who really owns the country. 5/10
Years later, I was a journalist in Indonesia when a judge was assassinated for daring to sentence Tommy Suharto, son of the dictator. It was a message to the entire judiciary: Independence is dangerous. We thought the fall of the New Order would end this. We were wrong. 2/10
Karolina Muchova after losing to Rybakina in Stuttgart final
“I wanna start with Elena. Honestly too good. You played really well, as well to your team. I tried to stop you, but you clearly wanted the Porsche for the 2nd time really bad.”
😭😭😭😭

The victory of the opposition in Hungary yesterday, like the Polish election in 2023, is a victory for democracy, not just in Europe but around the world. Most of all, it’s a testament to the resilience and determination of the Hungarian people – and a reminder to all of us to keep striving for fairness, equality and the rule of law.
There are moments in sport when the scoreboard becomes irrelevant, when what unfolds in front of us feels less like competition and more like history. Under the lights of Rod Laver Arena tonight, Novak Djokovic @DjokerNole stood across the net from time itself—and refused to step aside.
He didn’t win the historic 11th Australian Open title. And yet, what Novak produced felt even more improbable than just another record. At the age of 38, he played on equal terms with Carlos Alcaraz @carlosalcaraz, the best player in the world today—a player who was just ONE year old when Novak played his first Australian Open.
Let that sink in.
This wasn’t a symbolic appearance or a nostalgic echo of former greatness. This was Novak Djokovic competing, suffering, adapting, and believing at the highest possible level—against youth, speed, and the new era embodied in Alcaraz. Nobody in tennis has ever managed anything remotely close to this. Not across eras. Not across generations. Not with this level of relevance.
What we saw in Australia was courage in its purest form. The courage to step onto the biggest stage knowing that time, physics, and history are stacked against you—and conquering it anyway.
Novak’s greatness has never been only about his innumerable titles—it is about his character. About standing alone. About enduring doubt, pressure, and expectation, and still showing up with the same fire.
That is why he belongs in the company of figures larger than sport itself. Like Muhammad Ali, he carried conviction and fought battles far beyond the scoreboard. And he will continue doing so.
Novak Djokovic didn’t lose in Melbourne tonight. He showed us what timeless greatness looks like.
What a run by Djokovic. His class and perspective and humor in this moment. The era of tennis he and Rafa and Roger dominated was so special. His journey and relationship with the fans is so unique… up, down but always human and so real. And evolved. And he is still playing at this level. Don’t know if we will ever have this again.
Merci Novak Djokovic.
Incroyable joueur. Il a réalisé en demi-finales une des performances les plus folles de l'histoire du tennis.
Incroyable dans la défaite. Comportement et discours magnifique lors de la cérémonie.
Athlète légendaire. Ambassadeur du tennis légendaire.
At HEAD, we would like to thank you for another unreal display of grit, perseverance and passion for the game of tennis.
There is so much to be proud of, Nole ❤️
Congratulations on your first AO crown and another major title, @carlosalcaraz. Your talent, courage and joy for the game light up our sport.
@DjokerNole - what you continue to bring to tennis is beyond belief. Thank you for another remarkable fortnight and for setting the standard we all admire. 🚀
