Wrapping up an incredible journey at #AOCC2026 in Seoul! It was an absolute privilege to connect and exchange insightful ideas with so many outstanding IBD scholars.
Huge thanks to the organizing committee for a truly memorable meeting. Looking forward to our next gathering!
✨Today, I presented the Key Questions and Statements that we have been developing for the AOCC Guideline for the Treatment of Crohn’s disease #AOCC2026 🇰🇷
🤝 We hope AOCC guidelines will help harmonize IBD diagnosis and management, and improve the quality of care across Asia.🌏
My lab @SinaiHealth recently passed the milestone of 10,000 serum samples collected since we started our lab more than 20 years ago.
These samples have been preciously donated by so many patients over the years and have helped us publish papers on disease classification, prognosis, therapeutic drug monitoring, and many other topics.
Thanks are due to @JoanneStempak who has fastidiously managed this biobank with great care and precision allowing many research fellows to work with these. Also thanks to the lab technicians who have carefully processed and stored these alongside DNA, RNA, biopsies and stool samples over the years.
I recall as a young faculty member who was focused on genetics meeting with a mentor and role model Steph Targan who advised me to collect serum samples as well even if I didn’t know what I would do with them at that time. It was great advice and helped our lab generate a lot of important work.
Many thanks are especially owed to the thousands of patients who have placed their trust in us to collect their samples and put them to good use to advance knowledge on inflammatory bowel disease!

Could gut microbial signatures predict postoperative recurrence in Crohn’s disease?
@RirongChen, @SunHoLee15 et al. suggest a pragmatic human model to test biomarker-guided preventive approaches applicable across the CD spectrum

🤔Does the post-op "disease-free" state biologically mirror the preclinical stage of CD?
💡 Reviewing recent studies, we highlight shared biomarkers and mechanisms connecting both states. We propose post-op setting serves as a practical human model to test prevention strategies.
Just wrapped up an incredible #DDW2026! Thrilled to have shared our team's latest research on the premier stage for gastroenterology. A massive year for us: 1 Late-Breaking Abstract + 3 Oral Presentations! 🎉 Excited to share the highlights 👇
🙌 Of course, absolutely none of this would be possible without my amazing team!
A massive shoutout to my incredible mentors, Dr. Sun-Ho Lee @SunHoLee15 and Dr. Kenneth Croitoru @KenCroitoru , alongside our fantastic team members!!!
