We no longer view each other as opponents in a political contest. But rather mortal enemies.

America works best when it has a strong middle.

Without a strong middle, America becomes an extremist, polarized, dysfunctional mess.

A strong middle fosters healthy debate and compromise, the foundations on which our democracy was founded.

Hypocrisy is the enemy of democracy.

Pledge allegiance to principles, not partisan politics.

If you wouldn’t accept it from the other political party, don’t accept it from yours.

The two-party system doesn’t work. It encourages extremism, increases partisanship, pushes over-simplistic narratives, tribalizes our media and lulls voters into intellectual laziness. The issues of our day are more complex than right vs. left, good guys vs. bad guys.

Good governance isn’t a team sport. It’s not liberals vs. conservatives, good guys vs. bad guys. Some issues have a left-leaning solution; others a right-leaning solution. For some, the solution is somewhere in the middle. Thoughtless adherence to party ideology hurts America.
