This Sunday, I’m not posting anything about an undiscovered exotic place.
Because as this festive season begins to wind itself up, ALL roads lead to Mumbai.
Damn. I love being a Mumbaikar…

🚨When Hanuma Vihari and R Ashwin batted with torn muscles to save the Sydney Test🚨
Question🗣️: Ashwin, what was the conversation between you and Vihari while surviving 256 balls on Day 5?
Ravichandran Ashwin🗣️: "Vihari couldn’t run because his hamstring was completely torn. I couldn't bend down to tie my shoelaces because of severe back spasms. Australia had four fielders under our noses, sledging non-stop, and Mitchell Starc was bowling 150 km/h rockets at our ribs.
Vihari came up to me and whispered, 'Ash bhai, don't look at the runs. Just take the blows on the chest. We are not losing this Test match today.'
We took hits on the fingers, the chest, the helmet. Every single ball felt like a hammer, but neither of us took a backward step."
I did a double take when I saw this…
Jump rope may not be among the most prestigious or widely followed sports.
But it demands extraordinary fitness, agility, coordination and reflexes & perhaps says something about a country’s broader sporting culture.
Like me, I suspect many of us have grown accustomed to seeing clips of athletes from other countries, notably the West, but increasingly China too, displaying astonishing skill and dexterity.
I confess I hadn’t expected any clip on the subject to feature an Indian team.
And then I discovered that, late last month in China, our team won gold in an event at a global competition.
Displaying not just athleticism, but creativity, bringing a uniquely Indian flavour to the sport…
Bravo!

These soldiers, drenched in rain, are not part of any PR exercise.
They need neither cameras nor applause to prove their patriotism.
The bitter words of some so-called “Gen Z” voices in Ladakh cannot diminish the dignity of our soldiers. The nation knows the conditions in which they stand guard.
People may return home when the weather turns harsh. Our soldiers do not let the weather change their duty.
The nation stood with them yesterday, stands with them today, and always will.
