"#Love is profoundly political. Only love can give us the strength to go forward in the midst of heartbreak and misery. Only love can give us the #power to #reconcile, to #redeem, the power to #renew weary spirits and #save lost souls." — #bellhooks | #blkwmnphil
Donald Trump illegally took military action against Iran—without congressional authorization—risking dragging us into another endless war.
I am calling for an immediate emergency session of Congress to vote on the War Powers Resolution.
Fortunate to spend time #BreakingTheMOLD with a phenomenal team of arts and humanities leaders from #UMBC, #UMD, #MorganState, plus a beloved #MacArthurFellow, cultivating principles of inclusive leadership, mentoring, and mission-centered work! 💯 More: https://t.co/bVplQ3fmAt
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Lt. Col. Harry S. Stewart Jr., one of the last surviving Tuskegee Airmen, at the age of 100. A true pioneer in aviation, Stewart distinguished himself during World War II, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross for downing three German aircraft in a single mission. He also became a Top Gun winner in 1949, though his groundbreaking accomplishments were only recently recognized.
Despite the barriers of racism that kept him from pursuing his dream of flying commercially, Stewart forged a successful career as a mechanical engineer and vice president of a natural gas pipeline company. His incredible courage, resilience, and character left a lasting impact on history. Stewart’s legacy will continue to inspire future generations to rise above challenges and break barriers.

What we needed today was a President who evoked compassion for families, mourning for the lives lost, and a unified commitment to the safety of travelers.
Instead, what we experienced was a divisive, insensitive message, which lacked any factual basis for casting blame on DEI.
The message evoked racism, discrimination, and continued misunderstanding of the intent of initiatives that did not dismiss merit and excellence, but ensured that merit and excellence were not dismissed in non-white, non-male, non-heterosexual, differently-abled people.
We have a choice, America.
We can educate and elevate ourselves beyond this.
In doing so, we must cultivate and expect leadership that promotes dignity and creates an atmosphere for building the Beloved Community.
Our hearts break for the families who lost loved ones in the tragic plane and helicopter crash at DCA. Michelle and I send our prayers and condolences to everyone who is mourning today, and we’re grateful to the first responders who are doing everything they can to help under extremely difficult circumstances.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Ibram X. Kendi, Ph.D., as the director of the newly established Howard University Institute for Advanced Study.
The institute will be dedicated to interdisciplinary study advancing research of importance to the global African Diaspora, including inquiry to race, technology, racism, climate change, and disparities.
Dr. Kendi most recently served as the founding director of the Center for Antiracist Research at Boston University, has authored 16 books, was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine, and has been awarded a MacArther “Genius Grant” Fellowship and a Guggenheim Fellowship.
Welcome to the Howard University family!
"We should not be giving Black people the same vaccine schedule that's given to Whites, because their immune system is better than ours." ---RFK Jr.
So what vaccine schedule should I have received?
His answer was dangerous. I will be voting no.
