I follow @livingwithpickles on Insta & the lady it belongs to rescued a calf tht 2 days aftr birth was sold at cattle market, it died a wk later, despite efforts. People say it’s normal to consume animals, but modern farmg is not normal. #stopcrueltytoanimals
@vanOnselenP Whilst Australia is better than many countries in dealing with racism, there is still racism. Ridiculous to take the high ground on something that is actually normal. Racism exists, now let’s deal with it. A white guy denying racism is a bit silly.
@JulianFidge Why should you excuse this person? People have all sorts of experiences in life, they don’t necessarily kill people because of them. Your logic is flawed and you’re making excuses.
Every single black and brown person in this country knows how this mass-murder at Bondi Junction would have been framed if the perpetrator had been black or brown (whether or not he had historical mental health issues).
And every single one of those black and brown people are watching the media twist this issue into knots today to suit their own pro-white agenda and they are all fucking ANGRY.
Called it.
Many of us knew they’d say this.
"If, in fact, it is the person that we believe it is, then we don't have fears for that person holding an ideation. In other words, that it's not a terrorism incident."
A guilty man being protected by a twenty year suppression order is disturbing. The case is deeply disconcerting, highlighting as it does the actual statements (so foul the judge wouldn’t read some of them aloud) made by “the man” who has pleaded GUILTY to a child sex offence.
The evidence existed, the prosecution wanted him sentenced to jail time but the defence argued he was effectively fragile and wouldn’t get the help he needed if incarcerated.🙄
Judge Berman sentenced “the man” to 15 months in jail, then suspended the order allowing the guilty to walk free.
So all “the man” faces is a three-year good behaviour bond, placement on the sex offenders register for eight years, and an order to pay $5,000.🙄
The prosecution argued there were “exceptional circumstances” but one could draw the conclusion “exceptional connections” might be more apt an articulated proposition.
As cited by the ABC, “The man has links to prominent figures in the Victorian legal system, and continued to work as a consultant in his field of expertise while his case was before the courts.” So he’ll continue to enjoy his career and earnings for decades without nary a consequence of any significance.
As an ACTUAL consequence of the suppression order it is now a crime for anyone to print the name of “the man”.
Yup, I’d say the proposition, “It’s who you know” has more than a bit of weight in this case. Odious.
By all accounts a woman at Bondi Junction today who was stabbed so badly she later died had the presence of mind to hand her also-injured baby daughter to a stranger and begged him to save the child before she collapsed and if that’s not the very definition of selfless courage we don’t know what is.

The funniest thing about the relentless Australia Day culture wars is that if the RWNJs & Murdoch/Stokes/Costello media had only quietly gone along with a potential date change & reasonable recognition of Indigenous genocide the current, growing unease in celebrating the day (and the accompanying growing unease with a political party openly stirring up this culture war) would never have arisen.
This is all now hurting Dutton and Murdoch far more than it’s helping them.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of arseholes.

It’s 6 months today since the Murphy Report called for gambling advertising to be banned.
Since then Michelle Rowland has met with a large number of gambling industry representatives - and taken no action.
It’s time to open up Ministerial diaries. https://t.co/Swqu0NE1Mk
@MFWitches Women are in a good mood for the past two days but they’re all the good people in their life so I think they’re good for the next few weeks.
