@WestMetroFire What is the value that can be put on the individuals who undertake that training and expose themselves to the rigors of their profession for years on end? Priceless! Thank you all.
As our neighbors in Evergreen and Kittredge begin the difficult process of cleaning up after the recent flooding, we want to remind residents to be cautious of unsolicited contractors who may go door-to-door offering repair services. Although we have no reports of scams at this time, disasters can create opportunities for people to take advantage of homeowners who are understandably eager to begin repairs.
Before signing a contract, paying a deposit, or allowing work to begin:
• Take your time. Don’t feel pressured to make an immediate decision.
• Research the contractor. Check references, reviews, licensing, and insurance.
• Get multiple estimates before committing.
• Never pay the full amount upfront.
• Be cautious of anyone who insists on cash-only payments or pressures you to sign immediately.
We understand the desire to restore your home as quickly as possible, but taking a little extra time now can help protect you from becoming a victim of fraud.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is committed to helping our community recover safely. If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts. If you believe you’ve encountered a scam or suspicious activity, please report it to us – 303-980-7300.
If embers landed around your home today- what would they find?
During a wildfire, it’s often the small things that make a big difference: pine needles near the house, leaves under the deck, gaps where embers can get in, or items that could help fire spread.
That’s where a Home Wildfire Assessment can help.
Our wildfire mitigation specialist walks your property with you, looking at your home the way wildfire does-finding what’s already working and identifying simple changes that can help reduce your risk.
Because protecting your home from wildfire starts long before there’s smoke in the air.

@jeffcosheriffco No joke. Lots if people who thought it could never happen to them have learned that it can and it did. For God’s sake don’t be the source of a catastrophe.
@jeffcosheriffco It is so important to support local law enforcement that had close ties to the community. There is a reason why many jurisdictions require or at least encourage officers and agents to live where they work. Us versus Them makes for lack of trust and can lead to lack of empathy.
@JoMama4Trump@JeffcoColorado Calling Jefferson County can’t help you with the power outage. Only Xcel can help. Jeffco is not ignoring your problem. They are helping you by directing your call to those who can give you the information. Screaming with capital letters is not only ineffective, JoMama It’s rude.
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for tomorrow, Friday, December 19, in anticipation of Friday’s powerful and potentially damaging wind event.
