@ItsAndyRyan@Prominent_Bryan I expect their point is that British houses are actually badly insulated, which is one of the reasons (but not the only one) that they both gain and lose heat quickly.
@BTriagain Cork and Belfast have also had a Jewish mayor. Though worth noting that NYC has had 21 mayors since 1900, while Dublin has had 94. And, more significantly, Dublin's Lord Mayor isn't elected directly by voters.
@ItsAndyRyan@unvarnishedvoid Only restaurants and cafes that serve alcohol are required to provide free water (and only since 2010, and not in Northern Ireland). It's also legally unclear whether they can charge for "service". https://t.co/MSvrWKIp4G
@commieqazi@mehdirhasan According to Wikipedia (which describes Israel’s actions as genocide), the Nova festival massacre killed 344 Israeli civilians, 34 security personnel and ~20 Palestinian perpetrators (and this excludes hostages who were later killed, or survivors who later committed suicide).
@Almost_Sure Unicoded up: A sequence X₀,X₁,X₂,…,Xᵢ,… of Γ(aᵢ) RVs has independent increments X₁−X₀,X₂−X₁,… iff it has independent ratios X₀∕X₁,X₁∕X₂,… in which case aᵢ₊₁≥aᵢ, Xᵢ₊₁−Xᵢ ~ Γ(aᵢ₊₁−aᵢ) and Xᵢ/Xᵢ₊₁ ~ Β(aᵢ,aᵢ₊₁).
@oldenoughtosay Fun fact: the UK tax year is 12 (not 11) days off 25th March (the old New Year) because the Treasury demanded it not "lose" the Julian leap day in 1800. They were too embarrassed to ask for another day in 1900.
@LadyCorriedown Not that it's any of our business, but their age gap is around half the age gap between Boris and Carrie Johnson or Donald and Melania Trump.
@maxim_k@OALD24 Worth adding that the ICC can still investigate non party states if it gets a referral from the UN Security Council, but Russia and China prevented Syria being referred.
@nigroeneveld @SecretGinger05 @OALD24 But Israel's (and similarly Russia's) crimes were in countries that did ratify the statute, which is why the ICC has jurisdiction.
@RnaudBertrand@MagicPeaceLove But you didn't say "lynch mob" (which is accurate), you said "lynch" (which in the everyday sense of the word isn't). A pity, as it detracts from an important post and gives people an excuse to ignore it.
@GergelyOrosz@Pragmatic_Eng@AntithesisHQ The term bug for an engineering fault long predates this: that's why Hopper notes the irony of the bug being caused by an "actual" bug (in fact, a moth). See https://t.co/vMy5d2OdF4 for example.
@FlorenceHRScott As an aside there was also sorta a regnant queen during The Anarchy in the 12th century, but she was titled domina rather than regina (though a few charters did refer to her as regina).
