I have an unsubstantiated theory that when people nowadays talk about cortisol and serotonin, it is just as unscientific as when people used to talk about the four humours
@smc90 Not a Desi, family is from Indonesian, but had the same visceral reaction. Took me a moment to reset and look at why this is on my feed and who wrote it
in Shanghai and told my 24 year old cousin that in the US, young people are worried they can’t get jobs because of AI. he scoffed and replied "in China young people can't get jobs because there are too many people”
@joonian Yeah, internet in a box idea is still going strong among preppers: https://t.co/564DBLqL5f . Only added bit is LLM which sounds like an energy drain if you’re prepping. I rather run elastic search and save energy/compute for comms. my setup has this with Meshtastic and WiFi meshe
@tunguz Conviviality, right at the bottom. Living in Spain, I see people drinking everyday, eating fried foods and too much mayo, carb loading on bread and they all seem to live to their 90s.
@tunguz The most foundational part of the Mediterranean Diet isn’t fish or olive oil, it’s hanging with your friends. I am not even joking, you can look it up
Hi @dieworkwear, what are your tips or suggestions for bringing together sarongs and Western jackets? I am Indonesian guy who hates pants but love suit jackets. Is there a ‘grammar’ to follow or consider?

Does Europe want more immigrants from unstable, socially incompatible, and violent countries...like the US?
(Note: Found on Reddit. Is this a signal of change?)
💯 We live in a world of abundance where it’s easier than ever to optimize your time based on your own personal preferences.
That means more time spent doing things you enjoy!
But it also means you don’t get neighborhood kids playing kick-the-can because they don’t have anything better, or everyone coming to church on Sunday to socialize because they don’t have anything better.
Less free time means less neighborly convos, dinners with friends, etc.
When people bemoan the loss of shared community, they fail to realize it was the inevitable cost of a life molded perfectly around individual preferences
Schools (& pretty much all other indoors spaces) should have installed air filtration systems on year 1 of the COVID pandemic. The longer we delay these safety measures the bigger the cumulative damage +++ the worse preparedness for the inevitable next pandemic
@lightyoruichi Congrats Harinder! It can be very liberating, like a clean slate, with lots of learning. Wish you well. If I make it to Bangkok / Chiangmai later this year, I will see if you’re around
@leashless Govt official in a certain country told me - a few years back - they are all in on robotics and automation for a similar reason, responding to increasing anti immigrant / ethnic tensions
