The New York Knicks are the reigning NBA Champions, yet .@FDSportsbook has them with the third-best odds to win next season's title at +900.
I understand offseason moves, roster changes, and projecting forward. That's part of setting futures odds. But how do you rank the Knicks behind a Spurs team they just defeated in the NBA Finals?
The defending champions usually earn the benefit of the doubt until someone takes the crown from them. They're giving the Knicks another reason to play with a chip on their shoulder.
It doesn't matter how many teams have failed to go back to back. NY broke all kinds of records this past season. Why can't they do it again?
Former Spurs assistant Sean Sweeney on what went wrong against the Knicks in the NBA Finals:
“Bad luck… if the games were like 46 minutes or whatever, we would have won 4-1.”
