ये लोग दशकों से यहाँ रह रहे हैं। 2024 के लोकसभा चुनाव और 2025 के दिल्ली चुनावों में वोट डाल चुके हैं। 2023 में इनके घर तोड़ दिए गए थे - पर ये कहीं नहीं गए, यहीं हैं।

आज मैं इनकी झुग्गी में गया और सीधे इन्हीं से सुना कि चुनाव आयोग ने इनके साथ क्या किया है।

SDM से फ़ोन पर मैंने यही कहा - मकान होने या न होने का वोट के अधिकार से कोई रिश्ता नहीं है। ख़ुद CEC ज्ञानेश कुमार कह चुके हैं कि "हाउस नंबर 0" बेघरों के लिए है। फिर भी 727 लोगों का नाम काट दिया गया।

यह SIR नहीं - यह वोट चोरी का तरीक़ा है। जिनके पास पहले ही सबसे कम है, उनसे उनकी इकलौती ताक़त छीनी जा रही है।

ज्ञानेश कुमार तो जाएँगे। पर जिस सिस्टम ने उनसे यह करवाया, उसका हिसाब भी होगा।

If an organisation wants access to residents and their children, transparency about its legal status, finances, structure and accountability should be the bare minimum.

The video from Jamui, Bihar is deeply disturbing.

Two Class 10 students were stopped on a road. Harassed. Humiliated. Molested. A young girl, hands folded, begged to be let go while goons groped her and dragged her away.

Who gave these men the right to behave like this? This is not "culture." It is patriarchy: the belief that any man can police a girl's body, her movement, her choices.

When control is mistaken for culture, and such attitudes are normalised by Andhbhakts, mobs start believing they are the law.

Every individual in that video must be identified and prosecuted under POCSO, and justice must be swift. And if the incident happened on September 19th, why are the culprits not behind bars yet?

And the Bihar government must answer why a girl is not safe on a public road at 7 pm?

इन लोगों को ऐसी बदतमीज़ी करने का हक किसने दिया? यह "संस्कृति" नहीं है, यह patriarchy है: ये सोच कि किसी भी पुरुष का किसी लड़की के शरीर, उसके आने-जाने और उसकी पसंद-नापसंद पर नियंत्रण है।

जब नियंत्रण को ही संस्कृति मान कर 'अंधभक्त' ऐसी सोच को सामान्य ठहराते हैं, तो भीड़ को लगने लगता है कि वही कानून है।

उस वीडियो में दिख रहे हर व्यक्ति की पहचान होनी चाहिए और उन अपराधियों पर POCSO के तहत मुकदमा चलाकर उन्हें जल्द से जल्द सजा मिलनी चाहिए। और अगर ये घटना 19 सितंबर की है तो गुनहगार अब तक सलाखों के पीछे क्यों नहीं हैं?

और बिहार सरकार जवाब दे कि शाम 7 बजे कोई लड़की राज्य की सड़कों पर सुरक्षित क्यों नहीं है?

Among the issues I noticed during last night's visits across Bengaluru (roads, footpaths, debris, garbage), street lights stood out the most. Street lights are a basic, essential service, and we must make sure the basics work.

I also pointed out and instructed officers to attend to potholes, unwalkable footpaths, bad quality road works, poor designs, debris dumps, etc.
Additionally, due to heavy traffic and frequent breakdowns of Bammetaghta Road, I have asked officials to explore white topping the road as a far more durable solution.

Wow! So even @CeodelhiOffice @ECISVEEP didn't know that Chief Minister of Delhi @gupta_rekha was issued an SIR notice? They got to know only after we tweeted it? 🤔

Anyways, Now that ECI has clarified the SIR notice issued to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

We identified her name in the notice list at around 3:30 PM today. Within a few hours, ERO releases a statement saying that her case had been verified and cleared for inclusion in the final electoral roll.

We welcome the clarification. However, a few questions remain:

Was the exact same procedure followed in this case as it would be for 32.27 lakh ordinary electors who received notices in Delhi?

• When was the notice issued and served to Rekha Gupta?
• What was the scheduled date of hearing/verification?
• When were the required documents submitted?
• When was the ERO/BLO verification conducted?
• Who disposed of the notice, and when?
• Was the case processed on an expedited basis?

• Are you saying, all this happened within a span of a few hours?

We request the ECI to disclose the actual workflow and timeline followed in this particular case, so there is complete transparency.

32.27 lakh ordinary electors have received SIR notices. Several Prominent electors have received notices.

Will the same urgency, verification process and procedural standards now be followed in their cases as well?

We are not making an allegation of preferential treatment.

We are simply asking for the same process, same scrutiny and same transparency for every elector in India.

728 out of 729 voters deleted from a single polling booth in Delhi. If this does not expose the sinister nature of the SIR exercise, what will?

Polling officials are reportedly justifying this mass deletion by claiming that the voters’ homes are “unauthorised.”

And this is what we have been saying all along: SIR is a war on the poor, the migrants and the underprivileged — people who already have so little, and are now being deprived of their right to vote.

We have already seen how the deletion of voters from electoral rolls was weaponised by the BJP to deny people their rations and welfare benefits. This should not be treated as an exception. But as a warning. The BJP's intentions are forever questionable.

If allowed to continue unchecked, rights painstakingly institutionalised over decades since Independence could be eroded, one by one, by the BJP’s electoral machinations and political depravity.

The Supreme Court must take suo motu cognisance of this matter and strike down this unconstitutional exercise.
