Sa latest OCTA Research “Tugon ng Masa” survey, 45% ng respondents ang nagsabing pipiliin nila ang hypothetical tandem nina dating Vice President at ngayo’y Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo para sa presidente at Sen. Raffy Tulfo para sa vice president sa 2028.

Ang hypothetical tandem naman nina Vice President Sara Duterte at Sen. Imee Marcos ay nakakuha ng 42%.

Three points lang ang pagitan.

Pero bago mag-celebrate ang isang kampo at mag-panic ang isa, may malaking asterisk: ayon mismo sa OCTA, statistical toss-up ang laban dahil pasok sa margin of error ang difference. Sa madaling salita, hindi puwedeng sabihing tunay na lamang ang 45% kontra 42%.

Still, the numbers are interesting.

Dahil kung ang tanong ay hypothetical head-to-head matchup, halos tabla na agad ang dalawang political camps.

At may mas juicy pang detalye.

Sa ilang age groups, mas malakas ang Duterte-Marcos tandem, lalo na sa working-age voters.

Sara-Imee got 50% among those aged 25–34, 50% among 35–44, at 48% among 45–54.

Pero pagdating sa younger at older Filipinos, biglang lumalakas ang Robredo-Tulfo tandem.

Sa 18–24 age group, 52% ang Robredo-Tulfo laban sa 32% para Duterte-Marcos.

Sa 55–64, 48% vs. 40% naman.

At sa seniors, mas lalong lumalaki ang gap: Robredo-Tulfo had 60% among those 65–74 and a whopping 76% among those 75 and above, habang Sara-Imee ay nasa 29% at 23%, respectively.

Sa Class ABC, Robredo-Tulfo: 41% vs. Sara-Imee: 37%.
Sa Class D, 48% vs. 41%.

Pero sa Class E, doon bumawi nang malakas ang Duterte-Marcos tandem: 53%, kumpara sa 33% para Robredo-Tulfo.

At dito makikita kung gaano ka-fragmented ang hypothetical 2028 landscape.

Hindi ito simpleng “Leni vs. Sara” story.

May age divide. May socioeconomic divide. May educational divide. At siyempre, may napakalaking regional dynamics na kailangang tingnan.

Pero para sa Duterte camp, hindi rin ito magandang headline.

Lalo na dahil kasabay ng hypothetical Sara-Imee numbers ang iba pang OCTA findings showing Sara Duterte’s performance rating at 45% and trust rating at 47%, both below majority level.

Kaya kung iniisip ng mga Duterte allies na automatic na ang 2028 dahil sa pangalan at political machinery, itong survey ay may simpleng warning: HINDI PA TAPOS ANG LARO. AT HINDI NA RIN GANUN KA-SOLID ANG LARANGAN PARA KAY SARA.

45% vs. 42%.

Statistical dead heat.

Pero politically? VERY INTERESTING.

P16 MILLION FOR 34 SAFEHOUSES IN 11 DAYS? TULFO QUESTIONS OVP CONFIDENTIAL FUND SPENDING

Senator-judge Raffy Tulfo questioned the Office of the Vice President’s spending of P16 million for the rental of 34 safehouses over just 11 days during the 15th day of the impeachment trial on August 12.

Tulfo presented records showing that the OVP spent P16 million in confidential funds for the rental of the safehouses in 2022.

COA-ICFAO supervising auditor Xylene Mae del Campo confirmed the figures, saying the records covered 34 safehouses rented for 11 days.

Tulfo then compared the reported rental expenses with 2022 real estate data, citing daily rental rates in several exclusive subdivisions that were significantly lower.

When asked for her assessment of the P16-million expense, del Campo said, “Malaki po talaga siya for payment of rental of safe house.”

Tulfo noted that the spending amounted to roughly P42,780 per day and questioned whether the expense was excessive or abusive.

The senator-judge also questioned the use of aliases and identical signatures for multiple alleged informants, with del Campo confirming that the joint circular does not specifically provide for the use of aliases or multiple names bearing a single signature.

LEVIStE, NASA ABROAD PA RIN. PARAS, KITANG-KITA SA ALLEGED SETUP?

May bagong pangalan at detalye na lumutang sa kontrobersyal na “honey trap” allegation na iniimbestigahan ng NBI laban sa umano’y planong pag-frame kay Executive Secretary Ralph Recto.

Sa isang Facebook post, veteran columnist Ramon Tulfo identified the people allegedly involved in what he described as a supposed honey-trap operation at Bistro Primo in Project 4, Quezon City, noong July 26, bandang 5 p.m.

Ayon sa post ni Tulfo, kabilang umano sa mga nasa operasyon sina dating kongresista Jing Paras, Atty. Ruy Rondain, Atty. Orlando Mendiola, alias “Ken” o Lito de Guzman, at alias “Jen,” isa umano sa mga babae.

Pero lalong nagiging intriguing ang development dahil may video footage na kumakalat online na umano’y nagpapakita ng isang meeting na iniuugnay sa kontrobersyal na operasyon. Ang footage ay kailangang ma-verify ng mga imbestigador, kabilang ang identities ng mga taong nasa video, petsa, lugar at buong context ng pag-uusap.

At dito lalong nagiging mabigat ang tanong kay Batangas Rep. Leandro Leviste, na patuloy na itinutuon ng NBI ang imbestigasyon matapos umanong maiugnay ng isang naarestong talent manager sa plano laban kay Recto.

Iniulat na nakakita rin ang NBI ng bahagi ng phone communications na umano’y nag-uugnay kay Paras sa isang witness. Nagpahayag na rin ang NBI ng planong pag-subpoena kina Leviste at Paras para humarap sa imbestigasyon.

Samantala, ayon sa NBI Director Melvin Matibag, isang talent manager na naaresto sa entrapment operation ang nagbigay umano ng impormasyon tungkol sa isang plano kung saan limang babae ang gagamitin upang palabasing may ginawang sexual misconduct, drug use at pananakit si Recto, na maaaring gamitin sa character assassination.

At kung totoo ang mga detalyeng ito, hindi na ito simpleng political mudslinging.

SERIOUS BUSINESS NA ITO.
Dahil ang alegasyon ay hindi lang tungkol sa paninira sa isang public official. May umano’y recruitment ng mga babae, pera, staged encounter at planong sirain ang reputasyon ng isang mataas na opisyal ng gobyerno.

Mas lalong nakaka-curious: Bakit hanggang ngayon ay nasa abroad pa rin si Leviste habang patuloy na umuusad ang imbestigasyon?

Hindi ibig sabihin nito na guilty siya. Pero bilang isang incumbent congressman na paulit-ulit na naglalabas ng mabibigat na alegasyon laban sa mga personalidad sa gobyerno, reasonable lang na itanong: Kung wala siyang kinalaman, bakit hindi harapin nang direkta ang imbestigasyon at sagutin ang mga alegasyon?

Si Paras naman, isang dating kongresista at kilalang DDS-aligned political figure, ay kailangan ding sagutin ang anumang direktang ebidensiyang ihaharap ng NBI.

At may isa pang interesting na detalye sa post ni Tulfo.

Binanggit niya na sina Atty. Ruy Rondain at Atty. Orlando Mendiola ay partners sa Rondain and Mendiola Law Firm. Ang lawyer naman ni Leviste ay si Atty. Gabrielle Rondain-Kapunan, anak ni Atty. Rondain.

Again, hindi ibig sabihin nito na may participation ang law firm o ang mga abogado sa alleged operation. Ang relasyon o professional connection ay hindi ebidensiya ng krimen.

Pero sa isang kontrobersiyang may umano’y secret meetings, recruited women, alleged payments, phone communications at isang kumakalat na video, bawat koneksyon ay natural na susuriin ng mga imbestigador.
