The Rivian R1S as my 1st ever EV has been such an amazingly positive experience. I can't recommend it enough & I'm excited for the brand as they build out R2, R3 and more!

I leased my car in December 2024. I wrote a check last week and paid off the car and now own it outright. Trinity isn't perfect by any means (my digital key is currently broken and my nfc reader is touch and go) but man do I love my car... Enough to want to own it for the next minimum 7yrs.
Yes it's Gen 2 and the tech will eventually get old but I don't care. I'm happy with the capability Gen 2 will eventually max out at and that's good enough for me.
It also made sense to pay the $2500 for universal hands free...I didn't realize how much I missed it till I got it back.
Next up is an extended warranty once our move to Texas is complete!
All in all, I'm a happy camper... My service issues have always been addressed and I'm content having an amazing vehicle even if things break every now and then...
Hot take. Everyone loves calling Rivian the most unreliable thing on four wheels and I just laugh. Third one in my driveway, fourth on the way, and the issues have been pretty minimal. Lucky? Maybe. Iโm not pretending problems donโt exist because they do. But I know people with Range Rovers fighting way more than I ever have.
Asked how the R2's rear wiper design holds up in winter, Wassym says it was a deliberate tradeoff to enable the rear drop glass, which is one of his favorite features.
They engineered a built-in trough heater to melt ice, plus a software option to park the wiper completely outside the recess. He even shared a photo of it during winter testing.
โWe are really excited to be producing R2 for our customers. The vehicle is incredible โ itโs the result of all the hard work and dedication of the Rivian team. I canโt wait for customers to experience R2!โ - @RJScaringe

Some unconventional ways I travel:
DO:
- I use an SOP (standard operating procedure) document, which includes my airline/seat preferences, what time I prefer to fly/land, when to economize and when to splurge, and more
- I add 50% to any hotel sticker price โ that's the real cost. $500/night = $750 after taxes, tips, meals, treatment. If that number is too high, shorten the trip or stay somewhere cheaper
- Every ~10 days of travel, we have one completely unscheduled day
- I send a pre-arrival letter to hotels. My wife and I don't really drink so we'd prefer berries instead of a welcome gift of wine
DON'T:
- We don't book many high-end food reservations. It's just not for us
- Eat food on plane (even business class). True luxury is bringing your own food and walking off a plane feeling great
- We never book a trip and show up to "see the sights." Each trip has a theme, how we want to feel, and we focus the travel around that. We pin items ahead of time, then we can be spontaneous while we're there, knowing we'll see a few magical things we've already set an intention for
- Treat trips as "once in a lifetime." We know if we love it, we can come back
I have more specific ways I travel (next tweet)
A smol life update and some Rivian news!
We are moving from New Mexico to Frisco,Tx this summer. I was super pumped to learn Rivian is opening an SC right in my new town (I'm 6hrs away from service now). I've been following this as this SC was supposed to open in Jan/Feb. This just landed in my email on a resident run newsletter I subscribe to.
This is what the hold up is. Fingers crossed is resolved s00n ๐ค๐ฝ @Hilbe@RivianTrackr@RivianUpdates
I don't think so. Just not enough features. EHA is great but in construction zones, I have to take over. I was driving down the highway the other day and it kept trying to run over cones ๐ It really REALLY wanted to be between the highway lines and wasn't going to be stopped by cones ๐
@Lrawsignal Last update actually fixed it for me. Hadn't recognized my phone digital key for a long time. I had to wait a long time for it to detect or just use my key card.
