Is this where I’m supposed to say random stuff to nobody in particular? Also, don’t - under any circumstances- take my stock market stuff as financial advice!
@dtr_trading I took no trades today. I was very cautious after yesterday’s boondoggle, so I missed a few opportunities while $ES ripped all day. We will get ‘em next week!
Al Barnes wasn’t kidding when he said a trend can run farther than you ever imagined. No trades today, b/c no 2EL entries when I’ve able to watch, but seeing this $ES rip higher than I ever would have guessed is fascinating.
Hindsight: be more picky about trades, see the bigger picture, and follow your rules!!!!! Still up for the week. Only if an A++++ setup at a key entry point shows by 9:30 will I take it. Otherwise, I’ll withdraw my profit from the week and start over next week.
This will suck, but it is helpful to me, and you will hopefully appreciate me keeping it real. Three poorly executed trades on $ES today. A recap… see each trade in the comments. It was a good learning opportunity. Lessons were definitely learned!
Trade 3. I was looking to get in on the up trend on a 2EL. I entered as soon as the entry bar ticked above the signal bar. I had my stop loss a bit tight. Context was right, maybe should have waited for price to reach the EMA. Technically the only losing trade of the day.
Trade 2, Part 2. To make matters worse, I somehow added a contract when setting my stop loss. I was so confused when I first got stopped out, but I let it cover my loss and then closed it out. Should have let it keep running, but didn’t want to reward bad behavior/execution.
Trade 2. Trying to catch another 2ES. Upon review I see it wasn’t really a 2ES, was above the EMA, and right on the heels of a strong push up. Should never have taken this trade. I only saw what I wanted to see. Preconceived notions suck.
Trade 1, Part 2. I could sense something wasn’t moving right and moved my stop loss to one tick above breakeven and that turned out to be a very good thing.
Trade 1. A 2ES. Too aggressive trying to catch the move down. Should have waited for the next trade marked. I almost took that one but it was one minute before the market opened and things can get crazy. I didn’t want to risk it.
Horrible execution trading today, and basically a flat day. I hate trading these days where news drops all morning and the market whips around. I need a steady trend with some clean pullbacks. Learned a good lesson on being patient and only waiting for clean A+ setups.
@dtr_trading Agree 100%! No discord. No news. Nothing but the price action in front of me. I’ve become a complete Al Brooks disciple in this regard. If I am only looking for my set up and not trying to guess what the market will do, my win rate goes up drastically.
