Early this morning in Crown Heights, Detective Robert Carroll was shot in the line of duty. I visited Detective Carroll at the hospital today, and I’m grateful his bulletproof vest protected him from more serious injury. I’m keeping him and his loved ones in my thoughts as he recovers.

⭕️ Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has canceled his trip to New York for next week’s UN policing summit, ministry sources told Haaretz, after protest plans and calls from human rights groups to investigate and arrest him.

The Hind Rajab Foundation and Center for Constitutional Rights had urged New York Attorney General Letitia James to open a criminal investigation into Ben-Gvir ahead of the July 7-8 visit, and an open letter with thousands of signatures demanded his prosecution for war crimes. It is his second canceled US trip in weeks: Israeli media reported last month he scrapped a visit after the US embassy required him to appear in person and provide fingerprints for a visa.
