If Democrats care about winning the White House, elevating Nevada to first in the nation is the most strategic decision we can make. Nevada is the best proving ground for candidates to show they can win diverse, working-class voters and build the coalition to reach 270.
The Southwest's shift from red to blue in the last 20 years has been one of our party’s greatest success stories nationally.
NV, AZ, CO, NM reelected a Republican to the White House in 2004 - now those states are our path to the presidency & Democratic majorities in Congress.
How Dems flipped Southwest from pretty red to slightly blue:
20 years ago, 6 of 8 Senate seats from AZ, CO, NV, NM were Rs. All 4 then supported W in ‘04.
Today, 8/8 are held by Dems. All 4 backed Biden in ‘20.

The enthusiasm on the ground now is palpable. Major gains in the polls, the historic crowd for tonight’s rally, volunteers pouring into Dem field offices, the conversations at the doors - all signs point to Nevada momentum for Harris.
Latest count is 12k people inside the Thomas and Mack for @KamalaForNevada and hearing 4K were unable to make it in before entrances closed. 16k people turning out in Vegas would’ve made this her largest rally yet - and the largest in Nevada’s history.
UNITE HERE! is a powerful ally in battleground states across the map. Culinary 226 in particular knows how to organize & mobilize - and they are ready to once again pack a powerful punch in Nevada.
STATEMENT: Culinary Union is proud to endorse @KamalaHarris and @Tim_Walz.
The path to victory runs through Nevada, and the Culinary Union will deliver Nevada for President Kamala Harris and Vice President Tim Walz. #WeVoteWeWin

More polls this week show the major shift toward Harris in Nevada. Still have to win a tough fight on the ground, but Nevada can no longer be considered Trump-friendly territory. This is a competitive race we can and will win.
Since this is blowing up, I would note:
- This is good news for Harris
- Nevada is very difficult to poll -- and as the pollster notes in the story, it's pre-Labor Day
- I'm legally obligated to say that the only way to know who wins NV is to wait for @RalstonReports to tell you
More signs of major momentum for @KamalaHarris new poll by @SomosVotantes finds Harris leads Trump 55-37 with Latino voters and has major opportunity to grow vote in Nevada and Arizona, story via @GregTSargent
No other swing state is seeing a greater shift in support from Trump to Harris than Nevada. The VP is uniquely suited to win this diverse battleground in November - and our six electoral votes will be decisive. https://t.co/JvpxP8SpFd
Senator Reid & so many others fought against nuclear waste in NV for decades because it's an existential threat to our state's economy & environment.
Being pro-Yucca is a real liability & a reminder of what a flawed candidate Sam Brown is for this race. https://t.co/AZp2lYMcco
If you want a sense of how amazing Senator Jean Carnahan was, I’d encourage you to watch her final speech from the floor of the Senate. It’s ten minutes well spent. https://t.co/2JoLpolv4L
Jean Carnahan, who in 2001 became the first woman to represent Missouri in the U.S. Senate after being appointed to fill her husband’s seat following his posthumous election, died on Tuesday. She was 90. https://t.co/WvhUEnOVcm
Heartbroken by the passing of Sen. Jean Carnahan
Jean was a kind, brilliant person who dedicated her life to serving others
And when tragedy struck her family she again stepped up to serve Missouri
My heart goes out to her family and all who knew and loved her
We’ll miss her
No, Dean, you don’t get it. The base of the party comes through States like #SouthCarolina and #Nevada so why would you choose to not listen to and engage with these voters. @deanbphillips
The path to the White House runs through Nevada — a strong, diverse, pro-union state. You shouldn’t run for President if you’re not going to compete for Nevada voters, @deanbphillips.
Choosing to stake your claim in a state where the President isn’t on the ballot, where you won’t be awarded delegates and that hasn’t picked a winner in decades just because of some New England tradition is just an opportunistic political stunt.
Nevada is the only early state that looks like America and is the most diverse battleground in the country. You can’t win nationally If you can’t compete in states like Nevada.
After SCOTUS overturned Roe, we can’t take anything for granted in Nevada - especially with a GOP gov and national Rs working to turn our state red. Codifying abortion rights into our state Constitution will ensure no politician can take away our access to reproductive freedom.
Exclusive: Reproductive rights advocates are trying to put the question of enshrining abortion protections in Nevada's constitution on the state's 2024 ballot. https://t.co/r8eXM11IC8
Endorsing an extreme abortion ban, opposing rape or incest exceptions, trying to shut down providers & saying your anti-choice positions are "non-negotiable" might work for a MAGA crowd in a GOP primary.
In Nevada, it's a general election problem.
Our @s_golonka uncovers that NRSC-favored #nvsen choice @sambrownusa favored a 20-week abortion ban when he ran in TX, but won't say much now:
"Asked for comment about his past support for the 20-week abortion ban, Brown avoided the question..."
Lot of that going around...
