There is room for both nourishment and joy.

When you eat a filling chicken salad with avocado, you can say, “God, I’m caring for this body well so I have the strength to serve my family.”

When you eat lemon Oreo's with a smile,

Therefore, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, as stated in Romans 8:1.

The presence of grace does not imply that our mistakes are insignificant.

With grace, we can confront our mistakes honestly without the need to deny them or succumb to despair.

That means learning to tell the difference between the noise of lesser pleasures and the quiet weight of beauty, truth, and love.

The goal isn’t to have fewer longings.

It’s to have better ones.

I’m learning that holiness isn’t only about resisting what is wrong. It’s also about educating my desires, training them to recognize and pursue what is genuinely good…

The goal isn’t to stop feeling annoyed. The goal is to stop obeying the annoyance.

You don’t build patience by meditating on it. You build it by getting tested and choosing to exhale, drop your shoulders, and respond gently over and over.

Why does God expose our sin?

So you can experience the relief of being known and forgiven, not the shame of being caught.

He shows you the cancer so you can receive the cure, not so you can beat yourself up for having it.

What if those interruptions were God’s mercy? A chance to put my ego to death today, so I can look more like Christ tomorrow.
