Before you decide on your goals, get clear on what your standards are.
I could have a goal of having a million dollars in income, but if my standards are that I tolerate underperforming marketing vendors, not having insight into the financials of my business, or staff who operates with no accountability...
When you start selling FOR your prospects, instead of TO them, it becomes easy to let go of the mindset hangups that are holding you back.

But if you believe in the value of what you’re selling, and if you recognize that the goal of sales is to help the prospect solve a problem and get to a better place in their life, your mindset on sales will shift dramatically.

You don’t know what you don’t know.
But hanging around people who have already accomplished the goal you want to achieve is the fastest way to discover what you don’t know!
If you surround yourself with people who have low expectations for themselves, they will impress those expectations upon you.
Surround yourself with people who will challenge you on your excuses.
The answer is, it’s both! It has to be both.
Trying to treat it like a profession and ignoring the business is self-defeating. It’s bad for the practice and it’s bad for the clients.
They did not teach me anything in law school about how to effectively, practically, in a real world scenario, market a law firm.
