Colour Theory by April Bulmer is brilliant. Each poem named after a swatch you'd get at a hardware store. Telling a tale of soulmates who reunite through lifetimes.

@SarahEKaake There's a handful of agents on Query Tracker that don't have websites. But if you look up their clients, they seem pretty legit. If anything it could be an indicator of a very successful agent. I stumbled on one that rep'd a super famous writer (forget who :p)
@wotorreswrites You could pocket the manuscript. Write a new book (sell out a little more). Then once you've established yourself, you'll have this book to show. But adult SciFi is hard so You might need to query more than 30 agents. Pitch contests I would ignore.
@StephanieCotela You see people with crazy stats. 30-40% request rate. But I think that's not across all genres. Like, adult science fiction won't pull those numbers. Also, when you see an agented author show their stats, how many of those FRs came after sending notice of rep? A lot!
@SeptimusBrown Nice article. I think it's also become a strategy for agents. By leaving things in limbo there's a chance the writer gets an offer from a different agent. Then sends a notice of rep. Giving the agent a chance to poach the writer. Even though they weren't initially interested.
@cassidywriting Pretty good. I'd change up saying "New York" in sentences back-to-back. Call it the big city second time. foreshadow the sister's death that is mentioned later. Surely that's one other reason she left home. Put that in first sentence with writing asperation.
@AuthorM_Morris I might be wrong, but I think it's important for you to try and get some short story publications. For that genre. Because literary fiction scene is character-driven. So the agents you're subbing to are already getting stuff from accomplished s/s writers.
