Havant and Waterlooville Football Club can confirm that, after a period of negotiations, we have been unable to agree terms with Nigel Atangana ahead of the 2026/27 Season.
Nigel returned to the Hawks in Summer 2024 and across his two spells with the club has notched 106 appearances in that time scoring 7 Goals for the club along the way.
With our full support, Nigel will depart the club in search of a new challenge and we wish him the best of luck in his next chapter and thank him for all his efforts in Hawks colours over the years!

Sunderlandโs starting XI in their joyous, season-ending 2-1 victory over listless Chelsea cost the same as ยฃ106m Enzo Fernandez. This is no slight on a world champion, an elite attacking midfielder, full of craft and craftiness, if moody at times. This is simply a celebration of Sunderlandโs exceptional recruitment, finding gems who can see - and seize - the opportunity at the Stadium of Light.
This is also a celebration of Regis Le Brisโ remarkable team-building, blending and bonding qualities which have guided a side promoted via the play-offs into seventh and Europe. For those of us who thought Sunderland would go straight back down, apologies and enjoy Europe. You deserve it. A well-run football operation deserves it. That backing from stands to boardroom deserves it. Football also deserves it: a reminder that the status quo can be challenged with shrewd planning and investment and hard work.
Of Le Brisโ starting XI against Chelsea, eight joined on the eve of the season and one in the winter window: Roefs a reported ยฃ9m from Nijmegen; Mukiele ยฃ9.5m from PS-G; Reinaldo free from Atletico Madrid; Geertruida loan from RB Leipzig; Le Fee ยฃ19.3m, loan made permanent from Roma; Xhaka ยฃ13m from Bayer Leverkusen; Sadiki ยฃ15m from Union St-Gilloise; Angulo ยฃ17.5m from Anderlecht (in February); and seven-goal Brobbey ยฃ21.6m from Ajax. Two 2025 arrivals came off the bench: Diarra ยฃ30m from Strasbourg; and Isidor ยฃ5m loan made permanent from Zenit St-Petersburg (in February 2025).
Three of the 14 involved were already at the club. The starting pair of: Hume ยฃ200,000 from Linfield in 2022; and OโNien undisclosed but reported as ยฃ200,000 to ยฃ300,000 from Wycombe Wanderers in 2018. And the sub: Rigg from Sunderlandโs academy. (The ยฃ105.5m total does not include the undisclosed loan fees).
When Sunderland won 2-1 at the Bridge in October, Le Brisโ starting XI cost only ยฃ75m (and also had the important Ballard, ยฃ2m from Arsenal in 2022). Chelseaโs starting XI was ยฃ433m.
Four miles from the Bridge, on Park Lane this evening, the League Managers Association celebrates its membersโ many achievements this season. Le Bris certainly deserves a mention. Mixing old and many new players, and getting new signings to settle quickly, requires real people skills. Le Bris and his staff clearly have them.
Itโs also a reflection on Sunderlandโs family club reputation that so many newcomers are welcomed and assimilated so quickly. Some will move on, some will be moved on but what a journey this is across England - and soon Europe. #SAFC
Granit Xhaka's message to #SAFC fans was absolutely spine-tingling: "I promise you, as captain of this football club, that THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING!"

โNewly-promoted teams are not supposed to reach the heights that Sunderland have hit this season.
โLe Bris has been the man to make it all possible.โ - @PJBuckingham#PL | #TAFCAwards26
@1980Buster I mean, he got absolutely destroyed by Brian Brobbey and went off with a punctured lung in our games against them. But he was poor in both games.
But how has he honestly got ahead of Harry Maguire?
I honestly find some of those squad decisions baffling.
Dan Burn going to a World Cup over Harry Maguire is absolutely wild.
He canโt even get in Newcastleโs team at the moment and his last game in an England shirt more than showed his fragility at international level.
Staggering decision.

Slightly different post to my normal football chat on here, but does anyone within my network have experience of using Slack for work? Looking for some feedback. #slack
