పెరియార్ నాస్తికుడు కాదు..
సంఘసంస్కర్త, బహుజన నాయకుడు

ఒకసారి వారణాసికి వెళ్లినప్పుడు కులం పేరుతో పెరియార్ కు దారుణ అవమానం జరిగింది. ఆ ఘటనతో సామాజిక పరివర్తన ఉద్యమాన్ని చేపట్టారు. ముఖ్యంగా దేశంలోని కుల వ్యవస్థపైనే ���యన పోరాటం చేశారు. సమాజంలో ప్రభావవంతంగా ఉన్న దైవారాధన ఆధిపత్య వర్గాల చేతుల్లో ఉంది కాబట్టి.. దాన్ని ఆయన గట్టిగా ప్రతిఘటించారు. కానీ, ఆయనేదో నాస్తికుడు, సర్వం దరిద్రాలు దేవుడి వల్లే అన్నట్లు కొందరు ప్రచారం చేస్తున్నారు. సామరస్య సామాజిక జీవనానికి అడ్డుపడిన ప్రతీదాన్ని ఆయన వ్యతిరేకించారు. కులం, మతం, ప్రాంతం, భాష, రంగు.. ఇలా అన్నింటినీ తనదైన శైలిలో బద్దలు కొట్టారు. ఇందులో పెద్ద నిర్ణయం.. తన పేరులో నాయకర్ అని ఉన్న కులం తోకను తీసేశారు. సామాజికంగా, రాజకీయంగా బ్రాహ్మణేతర శక్తుల్ని బలోపేతం చేశారు. దీంతో ఆధిపత్య వర్గాల బలాన్ని దెబ్బకొట్టారు. ఒకరంగా చెప్పాలంటే.. సమాజాన్ని, రాజకీయాన్ని బహుజనీకరించారు. ఆ కారణంగానే యూపీలో బీఎస్పీ మొదటిసారి అధికారంలోకి వచ్చిన వెంటనే పెరియార్ కు అవమానం జరిగిన కాశీలోనే పెరియార్ మేళా నిర్వహించి ఆత్మగౌరవ బావుటా ఎగరవేసింది.
లెఫ్టులు సహా కొంత మంది నాస్తిక సంఘాలు.. పెరియార్ ను నాస్తికుడిగా, దైవ వ్యతిరేకిగా పరిమితం చేసే ప్రయత్నాలు చేస్తూనే ఉన్నారు.
దళితవాడలో వెలసిన దేవుడే అంటరానివాడైనప్పుడు దేవుడిని వ్యతిరేకించి సాధించేదేంటి? మనువాదం కదా అసలు సమస్య.
పెరియార్ ఉద్యమం అంతా దానికి వ్యతిరేకంగా కదా సాగింది.
బహుశా.. పెరియార్ ఉద్దేశాలు సరిగా అర్థం కాకనో, వారి స్వలాభాల కోసమో.. ఆయనను నాస్తికుడిగా ప్రచారం చేస్తున్నారు.
