Unbranding means to step outside the box of either CONSUMING or BEING CONSUMED and relearn what it means to MAKE your way through life and all its mess.
Branding is simple. Being is chaos.
You can make a mess of your life — or be consumed by it. Make a fucking mess.
Brand culture says the life, the self, the world we desire can be easily acquired — BUY NOW!
Unbranded living is walking with the knowledge that there is no elixir that can fix us, no serum to erase life’s wrinkles, no pill that can make the world easier to swallow.
@KimekoM Yet, this is the history of branding. And it's nothing new! Brands were born to replace human beings at scale. Early "consumers" weren't comfortable buying from faceless companies, they were used to buying from other people. Brands had to sound like people to earn their trust.
@KimekoM The very fact that brands are ON social media, trying to emulate our human culture of critiquing social media, so we see them as friends instead of corporations, just so we'll seal the deal with a sale, makes for a wild time to be alive.
@youngsteveng So glad you are! Have you visited https://t.co/IrC5I5qEru and taken the steps there? We need all the community support we can get!!! 🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳
You could be the hero or the villain of this story. Which side are you on?
Think of the headlines: "Midwest Industrial Funds saves 300+ year old trees, showing its commitment to sustainability and green space in the community..." OR...
I just learned this morning that MIF is doing everything it can to bulldoze these trees sooner rather than later so that they can avoid a PR nightmare and go on their merry way.
Midwest Industrial Funds, WE SEE YOU. We are watching. Our kids are watching.
