JUST IN: Actor James Van Der Beek has sadly passed away at the age of 48.
"Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning," his family posted to his Instagram account.
"He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace. There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time."
"Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend."
Van Der Beek, a husband and a father, revealed in November of 2024 that he had colorectal cancer.
Back in March, the actor released the following video explaining what cancer had taught him.
RIP.
Every year, Grandma insisted on hanging the last ornament herself.
It was a small, cracked glass bell. Nothing fancy.
One Christmas, she didn’t make it to the tree.
The family argued over who would hang it. Old wounds resurfaced. Old resentments came back like ghosts in tinsel.
Finally, the youngest grandchild climbed the chair and placed the bell near the top.
Inside it was a folded note no one had ever seen.
It read:
“When I’m gone, don’t fight over me. Love louder. Forgive faster. I’ll be right here.”
That year, the tree felt fuller than it ever had.
Every family has certain pain & scars that seem impossible to cure. And they just may be but we can still do our best to love.
God knows, most people are not lacking another iPhone, a car or jewelry.
Nothing is more valuable than sharing LOVE with others. You may be the ONLY one that did this Christmas for that one person who is starving of LOVE.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” Matthew 5:9
God is good!
@AlexBerenson You really have this one wrong and I love how you brought some things to light during covid but listen to both trials and look at the evidence and lack of investigation!
