It shouldn't be so shocking to see people uncomfortable with how young girls are depicted and displayed, while that being treated as part of fandom "culture" (as if that exempted it from any criticism). "Actual otakus" "superficial fans" yeah sure, great points.
The people freaking out over this proves that Anime/Otaku culture has only superficially gone mainstream. If anything, the hatred against actual Otakus has risen, with more and more superficial "fans" growing by the numbers. If someone posted this 8-10 years ago, no would care.
Hiei's fight against Bui was so visually stunning that I kept covering my mouth throughout the entire episode. Those vibrant colors, the choreography, the direction, & the resolution covering the theme of the pursuit of strength as a driving force for living, it was beautiful.
all created an interesting foundation for her relationship with Minato (whom I also really liked). The way his type of savior complex is handled in the early episodes is what got me hooked on the story at first. The entire anime was a constant clash of emotions, & I enjoyed it.
The ramparts of ice was a very nice anime to follow this season. Right from the start, you know the story prioritizes space for layered characters with complex emotions & the impact they have on how they build relationships, whether in the context of romance or friendship.
Koyun, in particular, was a protagonist I loved, all the struggle to form bonds when you find it difficult to get along with others, the pressure of feeling you "ought" to want something, & the guilt of setting boundaries or ending up hurting others in the process. I think it (+)
The casts of both works are incredible vast and all the individual characters enrich one another and the narrative in so many ways, proposing and developing different ideas and themes to explore. I always think about how everything is so beautifully connected in each story.
Succession & AoT are the two stories where every relationship/dynamic between the characters makes me lose my mind with sheer excitement over how perfectly crafted & fascinating they all are to me. Where every interaction adds nuance to the whole & not a single moment is wasted.
This whole sequence, I belive it's my favorite so far during the dark tournament arc (everything has been pretty cool, but this one specifically hit me)
