@EoinLenihan The old bachelor was as lonely as hell. A good percentage of them might've been hiding a sexuality that was forbidden at the time and didn't want to be alone, at all. The radio/television was a relief, a connection.
Of course, if they wanted silence, they could turn the radio off
@nialljburke@griptmedia@Ben_Scallan We could have 99% renewable and the unit price wont drop, as it's linked to the price of gas, used for the other 1% generation.
This morning @Independent_ie were reporting that the Rotunda had taken legal advice and were on firm ground. Now they've caved. @CarrollJennifer is some bit of stuff. If we could get her over to Justice, maybe she could sort out the judges and their continued use of the Poor Box.
Jennifer Carroll McNeil is going to make an excellent Taoiseach someday. We desperately need politicians of her calibre, especially when dealing with the mess that is the HSE. https://t.co/CcpHjDVznt @CarrollJennifer
Great to see @CarrollJennifer tackle this blatant abuse.
Now for @OCallaghanJim to take on the judges and their continue use of the poorbox (which was supposed to be done away with years ago. Instead they continue to stick two fingers up at the rules).

@ardalsfolly a nice read while on holidays, Ardal. A good plot and story, that moved along at a nice pace.
A bit unbelievable at the end, with Carrick winning the Tidy Towns. ๐
Why is @DarraghOBrienTD encouraging people to scrap cars? Building a new EV and scrapping another car has to be far more polluting than keeping an existing ICE car on the road. It's the motor industry that will benefit here, not the environment.
A โฌ10m pilot scrappage scheme to encourage motorists to buy an electric vehicle is to be introduced by Minister for Transport Darragh O'Brien https://t.co/i20ZT5Z2BQ
I've often thought about this one - if the cops pull you over on over on the road and have an embedded film crew with them, what are your rights? Yes, it might be a public place, but the film crew are only there because the Guards brought them.

We live in unstable times. We feel it in food prices, fuel costs, migration pressures & growing extremism.
Cutting aid doesnโt reduce these problems. It fuels the instability behind them.
Overseas aid isn't just the right thing to do, it's is in all of our interests.
The HSE said the bike shed was needed to encourage people to cycle to work.
"Encourage". So there weren't people already in need of the shed. Unreal.
@rtenews
Hey, @Independent_ie the general public don't give a flying fook about Tubridy, or what his earliest memory is. He is paying you for these puff pieces, because I'm not happy paying a subscription to be served that rubbish up?
