In 2005, Robbie Williams opened the Live 8 concert in London with a rousing performance of his signature hit "Angels." In front of more than 200,000 people in Hyde Park, he turned the event into one of the day's most memorable sing-alongs, with the massive crowd enthusiastically singing every word back to him.

Despite becoming one of the defining British pop songs of the 1990s, "Angels" peaked only at #4 on the UK Singles Chart and never reached #1. Brazil is building R$571 billion of data centers on one industrial site in Ceará.

Almost none of the computing is meant for customers in Brazil.

The site is an export processing zone, and the man who runs it says the campus exists only to export services.

Federal law had to be rewritten first, because a data center rents out space, and renting out space is not an export.

In June 2025 the government reclassified cloud computing as something a country can export.

A month later it ruled that anyone operating in these zones has to run on renewable power from plants that did not exist before.

So the wind farms went up in Ceará and Piauí, about 2.1 gigawatts and R$11 billion of turbines.

ByteDance broke ground in January on a R$200 billion campus: two buildings, 150,000 square meters, 200 megawatts of computing.

Four more sit beside it at around R$350 billion, under a company ByteDance was cleared to buy from its Brazilian partner in the same month.

Brazil turns wind into computing and ships the computing out, the same way it ships out soy and iron ore.

“Truly Madly Deeply” is from Savage Garden’s 1997 self-titled debut album. The romantic pop ballad became the Australian duo’s biggest international hit, peaking at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, topping the charts in Australia and Canada and spending 10 weeks at #1 on the US Adult Contemporary chart.

Originally titled "Magical Kisses," the song was inspired by Darren Hayes's relationship with his wife and was further developed after the band's label encouraged the duo to include a romantic ballad on their debut album. Hayes recorded the final lead vocals in a makeshift studio in his bedroom in Brisbane, giving the performance an intimate quality. The song enjoyed extraordinary longevity, spending 123 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 Recurrents chart after leaving the main Hot 100, while a successful 2006 cover by Cascada introduced it to a new generation of listeners.
