Russia murdered volunteer Olena Polynina, who rescued stray animals, in Sloviansk.

According to her fellow volunteers, that day Olena had packed food and set out to feed the strays she cared for. At that moment, Russian forces struck the city with a multiple rocket launcher. Two other people were killed alongside her.

The Russian Orthodox Church says women earning 100k rubles a month is an “ungodly luxury” which causes “emotional suffering”, so they should give 90k to the church.

Police have released bodycam footage from the first moments after yesterday’s Russian strike on a kindergarten in Kharkiv.

In it, officers are seen evacuating terrified children from the basement. The kids are visibly shaken. their building had just exploded above their heads.

Watch it with the sound on, even if you don’t understand the language. Every human can recognize the terrified screams of a child and the desperate cry of “Mama!”

Towards the end, a little girl asks the officer carrying her to safety, “I’m not going to die, am I?” He comforts her, and she replies, “Thank you very much” with a composure only a child raised in war could possess.

Another thing I’d like to mention, in Slovenia a ton of Italian Army VBL Puma 6x6’s were also spotted being transported via rail. If they’re not going to reinforce the Italian contingent in Hungary, which I find unlikely, it’s safe to assume these Puma’s are also for Ukraine.

Follow up from yesterday’s post, Italian Army VCC-1’s and M548’s recently were spotted being transported via rail. Note that these have not been in service for decades, some VCC-1’s still retain some add-on armor. These will make their way to Ukraine in the upcoming weeks.

🇧🇪 One of Europe’s biggest air defense companies Thales Belgium is warning that its top secret factories are being overflown by increasing numbers of drones, and it wants clear rules on how to jam or bring them down, - Politico

Country director for Thales Belgium highlighted sightings over the company’s Évegnée Fort site in the eastern Liège region, the only Belgian facility where it is licensed to assemble and store explosives for its 70 mm rockets.

The company said it could use jammers to block the signal needed to control the drones and bring them down. But the problem is that “we are not allowed — legally,” Quevrin said. One concern with bringing down drones is that they can cause damage or injure people if they fall.

This is just too rich. Austria is blocking sanctions on Russia unless it is compensated for Raiffeisenbank losses in Russia.

The SAME bank that A) offered special loans to Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine, and B) provides services to Russian defence companies producing weapons used against Ukraine.

Such utter sleaze. Nothing has changed since 2011 when Austria went out of its way to release KGB mass murder Golovatov, wanted by Interpol for killing 13 Lithuanians.

I still remember my very first time visiting a stabilization point close to the frontlines as a Frontlinemedics social media manager. It’s been over a year now, but that day is burned into me. I’ll be honest .. I was scared because I’m not a medic. Even in movies or TV shows I’d usually turn away when there’s blood, close my eyes, pretend it’s not there. So part of me was terrified… what if a patient comes in and I just faint? What use would I be then?

But the moment I arrived, before even stepping inside, I saw them. Black body bags outside, waiting to be taken away. They were the ones who didn’t make it. And in that second, all my fear shifted into something else .. this deep, crushing humility.
Because inside every one of those bags was a father, a son, a brother, someone’s whole world. People who gave their lives for the freedom of Ukraine. I will never forget that sight.

Inside, when the wounded started to come, something changes in your head. Fear doesn’t matter anymore. I may not be a medic, but suddenly it’s enough to just be useful in any way what is needed even if it is just handing scissors, translating, holding a light.. anything. You just do it, because there is no other choice.

And still, those black bags outside the doors… they will stay with me for the rest of my life. They ground me. They remind me that for the living, there is hope, there is still something we can do. The medics fight for every breath, every heartbeat, but sometimes even that isn’t enough.

That was the day I understood humility in its rawest form..
