Comparison is the thief of golf improvement.
One of the easiest habits to slip into is comparing ourselves to others.
😔 They’re further along than I am.
😔 Their swing is better than mine.
😔 They hit it farther than I do.
And all of this leads to slower improvement, worse golf, and less satisfaction.

@joshlukenichols “feeling” like he’s throwing the is throwing the club past his hands at impact (early release). Also proof that he actually came for a session today to work on his game😁. #feelvsreal
How good is this video from the @EpsonTour
Riley Smyth had about 25 feet to extend the playoff. The putt, the fist pump, and the high five, all 10/10.
She won her first Epson event on the next hole.

Day 18 - Practice Planning
Almost every golfer I know (myself included) does way too much block practice.
The biggest difference in my own career (and what I’ve seen in countless others) was when I started balancing that out with more variable practice.
The breakdown that my coach Robert Linville (@rlprecisiongolf) had me do was:
Block - 60%
Random - 20%
Challenge - 20%
And I’ve even shifted further than that to 50/25/25.
I think HALF your practice needs to be non-”swing mode” practice.
Imagine working hard on your swing for 4 weeks straight and then getting into a tournament and “turning off” swing mode and just playing.
This “switch flipping” is a muscle that needs to be worked out.
Work on your swing and your technique, by all means.
But balance that with practice where you’re going through your routine and accomplishing challenges 👍
@joshlukenichols I think it’s also how each person interprets the terminology. For me, confidence is more like an emotion that may come and go, whereas self-belief can be more about long term stability. Whatever the term, do you have the trust in your abilities to win this shot

@joshlukenichols Awesome job with your summary of the work you put in! You bought in fully to concepts of deliberate practice and focus on improvement! Fun times!
@joshlukenichols Practice sets your skill ceiling. Play sets your standard. The goal in competitive is to be able to access your skills to play as close as possible to these levels. Even the best are not able to consistently play at a higher level than they practice.
@golfsciencelab @cdngolfcoach@TourReadGolf Excellent app! It’s THE best way to practice green reading that I’ve found in 40 years of coaching! Extremely accurate and very enlightening for players to realize how much they under-read putts.
