@fraserihudghton@scotgov 'Let's park the politics', notes another reductive PISA 'analysis' post. Define 'slipping'? Define 'miles better'? Would like to be directed to any detailed, realistic, costed Scottish Tory education improvement strategy . . .
@JennyYoung2026 PISA points are a psychometric scale, NOT a measure of an individual child's curricular progress. Some 'commentators' have turned an illustrative statistical conversion into an apparently concrete educational fact. Not helpful. Another 'political' post that offers no strategy.
@LHolt99@GeorgeAdam Correction. Scottish secondaries ALREADY deliver a subject (knowledge)-based, schema focused, teacher-led/ student-centred approach to learning (with obvious inherent inconsistencies). Axes ARE being ground with PISA at the expense of genuine school/education improvement debate.
@GerryHassan Simply noting that the PISA 'debate' is reductive, simplistically 'political' in nature and critics/ 'experts' are quick to criticise without offering realstic, costed strategies identifying how to move forward.
@NickGibbUK Scottish secondary schools deliver a subject (knowledge)-based, schema focused, teacher-led/ student-centred approach to learning (with obvious inherent inconsistencies). The 'knowledge debate' is one that exists in our education quangoland and not at the chalkface.
@Miss_Snuffy 'Run up to me' ๐ค
'100% believe in'๐ค
'Run away'๐ค
'Terrified of the social cost'๐ค
Alexa- define hyperbole . . .
Performance. Not rational debate/ dialogue about a desire to improve the education we offer our young people.
@MrMcEnaney Trust in our profession again takes a media hammering from cheap tit-for-tat 'dialogue' across groups with self-interested 'skin in the education system game' (or their own ideological agendas), but too far removed from the realities of classrooms to impact pupil attainment.
@SeonagM In similar fashion, then, if 'experts' ;-) claim specific knowledge deficit caused our PISA 'decline', surely they need to identify the missing knowledge, demonstrate CfE 'implementation' removed/reduced it, and EVIDENCE this deficit explains the PISA performance difference?
@staylorish@bellacaledonia@jackiekemp In similar fashion, then, if critics/'experts' claim specific knowledge deficit caused our PISA 'decline', surely they need to identify the missing knowledge, demonstrate CfE 'implementation' removed/reduced it, and evidence this deficit explains the PISA performance difference?
@LHolt99@alexmassie More gesturing. Wilful ignorance? If 'experts' claim specific knowledge deficit caused PISA decline, they need to identify the missing knowledge, demonstrate CfE 'implementation' removed or reduced it, and evidence that this deficit explains the PISA performance difference.
@CAILEAN_UK More simplistic politicising. If critics/'experts' ;-) claim specific knowledge deficit caused PISA decline, surely they need to identify the missing knowledge, demonstrate CfE 'implementation' removed/reduced it, and EVIDENCE this deficit explains PISA performance difference?
@the_whiskyist@staylorish I must never engage with commentators and 'experts' who push lazy and reductive ideas based on limited research. There, fixed it for you ;-)
@chrisdeerin Incontrovertible? If critics/'experts' claim specific knowledge deficit caused the PISA decline, surely they need to identify the missing knowledge, demonstrate CfE 'implementation' removed or reduced it, and evidence that this deficit explains the PISA performance difference.
@HolyroodSources If observers/ critics/ 'experts' claim specific knowledge deficit caused the PISA decline, surely they need to identify the missing knowledge, demonstrate that CfE 'implementation' removed or reduced it, and evidence that this deficit explains the PISA performance difference.
@LHolt99 Caricature. If observers/ critics claim that specific knowledge deficit caused the PISA decline, surely they need to identify the missing knowledge, demonstrate CfE 'implementation' removed or reduced it, and evidence that this deficit explains the PISA performance difference.
@MrMcEnaney CfE? Always been lost in quango land. Ask 12 'experts' what it 'means', get 13 different reponses. Secondary schools endeavour to offer a subject (knowledge)-based, schema-focused, teacher-led/ student-centred approach to learning (with inherent inconsistencies in delivery).
@C_Hendrick Scottish secondary schools deliver a subject (knowledge)-based, schema focused, teacher-led/ student-centred approach to learning (with obvious inherent inconsistencies). The 'knowledge debate' is one that exists in our education quangoland and not at the chalkface.
