My book Reporting the Courts is out this week, published by @routledgebooks. It’s full of new research into the past, present and future of how the media covers the courts in the UK. Let's dive in! 🧵
🔜 I'm editing a forthcoming book of new research on court reporting, much of it first presented at the Salford conference. Journalism and the UK Courts is due out in 2027, again with @routledgebooks!
@chrislund50@rogermosey Football Preview began as a short item in September 1967. The extended Football Focus with Bob Wilson started in 1974. Between 1988 and 1992 when ITV held the rights, a shorter one was still on every week but was only called 'Focus' for FA Cup Saturdays. It was spun out in 2001.
I was at @ECREA_eu in Groningen this week for their journalism conference, which was a great event. Not pictured: the audience of European scholars gripped by my insights into county cricket.
@SPFLWatch@jonnyrmcfarlane There has been a big shift in approach to YouTube there in the past few months. Previously they were very squeamish about doing anything that didn't sit on BBC platforms like the iPlayer, but that's all changing rapidly.
@Nick_Metcalfe A sad but telling statistic: Martin Offiah remains the only rugby league player ever to be on Strictly Come Dancing (rugby union has had eight). Even Ellery only made Dancing On Ice.
