RMFU is dedicated to sustaining rural communities, to wise stewardship and use of natural resources, and to protection of our safe, secure food supply.
ACTION ALERT: The administration's federal funding freeze and staff dismissals across multiple federal agencies have raised significant concern among farmers and ranchers. We are collecting stories from impacted producers. Find how you can help at https://t.co/axKjDIZozH
We have contacted our Congressional Delegation, Governors, and Attorneys General requesting that they also insist Trump rescind his order and continue federal grants, loans and aid on which our farmers, ranchers and rural communities rely.
On January 27th, President Trump signed an executive order to freeze trillions of dollars in federal grants and loans. Of utmost concern to us and our members is the impact that this will have on the agricultural industry and rural communities.

While we appreciate the current court injunction, this still leaves our communities in limbo. RMFU is actively calling on President Trump to rescind this order. We have sent a letter to the Acting Director of the Office of Management and Budget.
Our rural communities rely on countless federal grants, loans, and aid for rural development, housing assistance, services for our rural schools and seniors, as well as support for developing and improving rural economies and infrastructure.
The agricultural industry relies on numerous federal grants, loans, and aid for a variety of programs, ranging from farm loans that provide essential credit to farmers and ranchers to purchase land, livestock, and equipment, to funds for marketing that promote American grown food
This is great news! The failure to reduce emissions during well completions has a negative impact on farmers, ranchers, and rural communities. Shoutout to our member and methane reduction advocate, Don Schrieber! @vivarioarriba
Great news for NM:
Hilcorp has agreed to pay a civil penalty of $9.4 million for violations resulting from its failure to reduce emissions during well completion operations. Special thanks to Don Schreiber @vivarioarriba for his tireless advocacy!

🔧 The right to repair should be a right for all farmers!
The FTC’s investigation into John Deere’s repair practices is welcomed progress in the ongoing effort to make equipment repair fair and accessible. #righttorepair

@GovofCO just signed one of RMFU's priority bills this year-SB24-055-Agricultural and Rural Behavioral Health Care! This bill is a positive step in addressing the behavioral health crisis in our ag and rural communities.
This bill will create a liaison program in the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA), establish an ag and rural behavioral health work group, and convene an annual summit on these issues.
A bill we brought forth with the family farmers in the @RMFUnion is headed to the Governor to be signed into law. I hope future budget committees and the Governor will prioritize funding these important programs to meet our farmers and ranchers where they are.
@RepBoebert’s attempt to undo important reforms would leave taxpayers stuck with a billion-dollar bill to clean up oil & gas messes on #PublicLands. @Interior’s proposal to #ReformLeasing is critical for protecting taxpayers. RMFU urges a NO vote on H.R. 6009.
RMFU applauds Attorney General Weiser for filing this complaint to block the merger between Kroger and Albertsons that would have detrimental effects on farmers, ranchers, and rural communities.
BREAKING—we just filed a complaint challenging the Kroger/Albertsons merger and a separate illegal no poach agreement. This merger is bad for consumers, workers, and farmers. https://t.co/jTzXUaFW8j
Great day touring @unitedpowercoop in Brighton. And I got to share good news with partners like @RMFUnion, @ColoFarmBureau, & @COBank!
My bipartisan Strengthening Rural Cooperatives & Communities Act will provide relief for rural cooperatives & invest in underserved communities.
The Environmental Protection Agency released its final Section 111 Methane Rule on 12/2/23. See Rocky Mountain Farmers Union President Chad Franke’s quote on the release of this rule:
We are excited to introduce the newly elected RMFU Vice-President, Nick Perchess! Nick will be a great leader for our organization. Congrats to our other elected directors: Emily Brown, District V Director, and Jan Kochis, District VI Director. The future of RMFU is truly bright!
Our state policy debate has officially started at our 2023 Annual Convention. This is where our grassroots really show up - our members decide each and every one of our policies right here, shaping our organization!
The introduction of the Agricultural Right to Repair Act is an important step in our fight to ensure farmers across the country have fair and affordable access to the parts, tools, and information they need to fix farm equipment. NFU stands ready to push this bill forward.
This freedom to use a dealer mechanic, and independent mechanic, or repairing their own equipment is why RMFU supports this Right to Repair legislation. 7/7
Rocky Mountain Farmers Union (RMFU) is incredibly grateful to Representatives Joe Neguse (CO-2) and Marie Gluesenkamp Pérez (WA-3) for introducing Right to Repair legislation before the 118th Congress. 1/7
“Right to Repair would ensure that other local mechanics would get access to the tools and information they need to complete repairs, giving farmers multiple options”, continued Franke. 6/7
