Mama Nerd, Gazda, is headed to a new adventure- teaching biotech and starting a Healthcare Academy at Skyline HS. If you enjoyed what you've seen posted here the last few year follow her @MrsGazda
The last days of school are always bitter sweet, this year is particularly so cuz I am leaving Red Mountain and going to Skyline HS next year. Saying I will miss these nerds is a gross understatement. Thank you for letting me be your teacher and part of your story, I love you all
@BioRadEducation Satelite colonies that weren't transformed survived due to ampicillin concentration being too low.
Arabinose activates the production of GFP so ampicillin is not necessary, just convenient.
Heating shocking a sample a second time will increase transformation efficiency.
pGlo time! Year 1 students really stretched their brains today analyzing why bacteria did or didn't grow and why they did or didn't glow. On to the investigation to test their hypotheses....
The Biotech 2 class is taking their Lunch Litter (data analysis) lesson to the next level. These Change Makers have taken the initiative to get the recycled items from last school picked up, since the pandemic stopped collection. Step 1- determine how much and what items we have.
We are loving @miniPCR BioBits! The students were able to visualize transcription with the green fluorescence today. Hopefully tomorrow we'll see red fluorescence to indicate translation.
