RM is also a famous Art collector, known for his notable art pieces including Roni Horn's glass sculpture, KAWS figurines and Takeshi Murakami's "Flower Ball (3-D), Kindergarten (2007)". In 2020, RM added to his collection "Disappearing Hometown 730", a luminescent landscape by South Korean artist Joung Young Ju. In June 2025, after his enlistment in the Army, RM was named Global Ambassador for Samsung Art TV, championing the global art scene. RM is an active philanthropist and donated ₩100 million (US$85,810.58) on his 25th birthday to the Seoul Samsun School to help hearing-impaired students receive music education. In December 2020, the Arts Council of Korea named him one of its ten 2020 Patrons of the Arts in recognition of his ₩100 million donation to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art for the printing and distribution of various rare art books to schools and libraries in rural and mountainous regions. Since September 2021, RM has donated ₩100 million each year towards the preservation and restoration of cultural artifacts overseas, through the Cultural Heritage Administration (CHA) and the Overseas Cultural Heritage Foundation. His first (private) donation, was used for treatment of a hwarot owned by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) at the time, while his 2022 donation was used for the creation of an art brochure introducing Korean paintings. In September 2023, he donated ₩100 million to the National Forensic Service of South Korea, to develop forensic science in the country. In September 2024, on his 30th birthday, RM donated ₩100 million (US$87,416.41) to the Funds for Veterans to provide welfare and treatment to uniformed service personnel and their families. In March 2025, RM donated ₩100 million (US$87,416.41) to the Hope Bridge Disaster Relief Association for wildfire relief efforts after wildfire damages in the Ulsan, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam regions!
