@Steven_Swinford@oliver_wright This is less a starmer thing (as much as I'd love to drag hi(s na)m(e) through the mud) and more why the hell do farmers get to point the gun at ponies? Why aren't the endangered wildlife excluded from this culling requirement???
@kettering_red Naturally, but implementing a ban in such a way that every adult can only access the internet by releasing personal details everywhere, is a security and privacy nightmare.
There are better and more effective alternatives, so I don't trust that this was just about child safety.
@kettering_red@PeterClewes2@SimonHarrisMBD Children should have their accounts set accordingly on YouTube which will disable comments for under 13, parents should also teach their children internet safety. It's worth pressuring YouTube for more effective moderation.
There are means but parents are uninformed or lazy
@dr_musgrave Even the published study only found weak links with many caveats https://t.co/yCT7ZyukBu
It can be beneficial when set up correctly, but nobody wants to ACTUALLY support the children in a way that reflects the 21st century
@Grim60696847085@alwaysonebetter@swisschocoo@blixberrie I mean obviously they shouldn't, but the current implementation is a Trojan horse for getting digital ID enforced
So far the younger population have consistently had things taken away from them under the "save the children" flag while providing no alternative, they'll find worse
@Tom_Nicholas I feel like this was just the release list and they'll add to it whack-a-mole style as people share their alternatives. Like how piracy sites were shut down because nobody knows how to shut up
