@Roog_enjoyer@Nordix_XY As far as I know Corona had a much more severe impact on the economy than Brexit - what a hard Brexit could have been I do not know - point is both the "leavers" as well as the "remainers" overestimated the impact of Brexit severely.
@Nordix_XY You surely do not know German politics? Talk to a German about von der Leyen. And ask Greek people about what happened to EU funds for agriculture in the last years. Or just follow Martin Sonneborn - probably one the best members of the EU parliament and active on X.
@Nordix_XY This does not mean that "leaving the EU" alone is a magic bullet for the economy as well. Leaving/joining the EU have probably less effect than one thinks. Probably never have joined - like the Swiss - was the smartest thing to do.
@Nordix_XY That is simply not true - I do not know the situation everywhere in the EU but there are plenty of people disliking the EU in Germany, Greece and Poland. The show will probably end when Germany runs out of money - and then a lot of countries will find their scepticism.
@Nordix_XY You glorify the EU too much - important is the quality of the people in power - which is lacking at the moment. There is everywhere - also in Germany - skepticism of the EU. But that does not mean that there is enough political will to change anything - we are kind of "stagnant"
@Nordix_XY The show will go on until politics in either France and Germany will change dramatically - then we might either get a reform or something else. Maybe in 10 years, it will seem like Britain has dodged a bullet - but it seems like GB is fully capable of ruining itself on its own.
@Nordix_XY What is your point? EU is not a magic bullet for the economy - e.g. living standards have not improved in neither Germany/Croatia/Greece in the last ten years. But it can also be true that a country cannot afford to leave. So complaining is the only thing left to do.
@Nordix_XY For smaller countries it is probably not like having joined a club - but more like having joined a cult. A smaller country cannot "really" afford to leave - they are "trapped".
@Nordix_XY I said something different - I do believe that the advantages of being in the EU are far too exaggerated. But I also do not believe that all economic problems vanish magically over night if one does leave the EU. Politicians have to still pass good economic policies.

@julius__boehm Was ist besonders?
