The type of crude oil found in an North Sea basin is too ’sour’ (it has too much sulphur in it) for the majority of UK refineries. To correct this makes our refineries inefficient and un-economic.
So in reality, we would simply sell this 'North sea oil' on the ‘open market’ to organisations that can refine ‘sour’ crude.

We would then simply use the cash to buy ‘sweet’ crude in the market. So what on earth would we achieve? There is nothing more dangerous than a badly informed idiot put in charge of something important. And I have to say, I think that is the description of the whole of the current UK government!

@bonafideYT @afneil As far as I know … North Sea crude oil cannot actually be used in UK petroleum processing plants for chemical reasons, etc. wrong type of crude …. 🥴🤢

I am not saying things like drug addiction in some poor foreign land aren’t distressing and should be addressed … I just don’t think it is primarily our problem … and even if we wrung our hands and wailed about morality … we wouldn’t’ make an iota of difference in the big scheme of things😒

Best we can do is focus on becoming a successful economy thus enabling our governments to make meaningful funds available to International Aid organisations.
