Can we all agree his press conference at the start of the week was never him saying that he didn’t care or that he doesn’t want success as much as anyone else out there??
Surely it was him saying exactly what that Nike ad says.
You can be the most competitive person in the world and still understand that winning golf tournaments isn’t as important as being loved, and loving, or having faith.
I actually think it’s unbelievably inspiring (and mind blowing) that he can do what so many extraordinary athletes can’t - be selfish enough to achieve generational greatness, but selfless enough to be what he needs to be to his family

I'm fortunate to have spent the last 21 years - more than half my life - working in golf.

It started with 20p rounds on a public putting green in Orkney in the early '90s, and continued on public courses in and around Glasgow when my family relocated in 1996.

(My parents, probably quite sensibly, weren't prepared to shell out on a year-long membership at a private golf club in case I decided it wasn't for me after a few weeks.)

That Orkney putting green is now a bowling green, and several of those Glasgow courses are gone, rotting in plain sight after being abandoned by the local authority.

Without those facilities, I highly doubt I'd be doing what I do now.

The idea that other kids could be deprived the opportunities I've had, purely due to a lack of access or availability, is a huge part of why I'm so passionate about the public golf sector.

So again, please, sign here to try to keep Dalmuir open. It may or may not work, but it has to be worth a try.
