In 2019, Portland State University, with help from @CG_OR_WA simulated the effects of a land value tax in the Portland area relative to existing property taxes, analyzing who would pay more or less, and what the effects on land use would be.

The tax upon land values is, therefore, the most just and equal of all taxes... It is the taking by the community, for the use of the community, of that value which is the creation of the community.

Labor and capital are both constrained by access to land. Both face a dual burden of rent and taxation. A shift to land value taxation benefits worker, investor, and business owner. Implement #LVT for a more prosperous and equal society.
Upzoning and even social housing programs only treat the symptoms of this issue. Until the common right of mankind to the land is recognized through land value taxation, this problem can only be ameliorated, not solved.
Inflation serves as a tax on renters, whose incomes are eroded, while subsidizing landowners and speculators, whose land prices increase. A key part of making an economy that works for everyone, with inflation or without- is shifting taxation to land value.

Tax reform needed.
Most money pumped into the economy over last 2 years will be added to the the price of landed property. Much of the rest will go to offshore accounts of suppliers of Covid equipment. Gov spending will also swell GDP without featuring in inflation calculations.
Parking lots are the classic example of the kind of wasted space- often speculative- that land value taxation can solve. (See Georgist Donald Shoup's "The High Cost of Free Parking)Implement #LVT for healthier, more environmentally friendly cities.
Rentseeking and land speculation hurt everyone. Untax the working class and tax unproductive economic rents with a land value tax to spur economic growth and fight inequality.

We propose immediate action to:
🙂 increase net wages and profits by a quarter
😀 increase public service funding by one third
😃 reduce house prices by half
Three good reasons to replace wage and trade taxes with AGR (Annual Ground Rent).
"Levelling up" can only be achieved by sharing the rent of a country's land and natural resources with its producers.
That means collecting and sharing half of GDP with everyone in the form of properly resourced public services.
