Journalist. Storyteller. Amateur grammarian. I tweet super savvy stuff about society, a pinch of politics, a bit of biz and the lionhearted @LFC (#YNWA).
Can we please get people stimulus checks and mortgage relief and rent forgiveness and small business support and free testing and hazard pay and healthcare for the uninsured (& underinsured) in the middle of a pandemic or is that too socialist too?
Watching @tristanharris kill it in an interview on @RealTimers. He's talking about the impact of social media on our minds and society. So good, so eloquent.
In November 1960, Richard Nixon declined to appear in person for his formal concession to John Kennedy. Watching TV in Hyannis Port, JFK told his family and aides of Nixon, “He went out the same way he came in. No class."
And I'd add to this: The calm and patience the Biden campaign showed over the past few days was their whole campaign in microcosm. They didn't try to drown Trump out. They were winning, so they stayed patient, and calm, and let him discredit himself further.
JOE BIDEN DEFEATS PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP
The Associated Press declares Joe Biden the winner of a grueling campaign for the American presidency. He will lead a polarized nation through a historic collision of health, economic and social crises.

“But America’s institutions boosted white political power in less obvious ways, too, and the nation’s oldest structural racial entitlement program is one of its most consequential: the Electoral College.” From the archives: https://t.co/CK6ahyAfdC
Fair. The abundance of caution used in calling the race is annoying. No doubt. Perhaps better to get it right and avoid uncertainty in a tricky time. Agree or no? #Election2020
Gonna preface this by again reminding you that I'm not a pollster and instead my job is to assess how accurate polls are and build models of what the errors look like. So as someone who spends a lot of time on this, I'd say media coverage on this topic has been crappy so far.
I don't know, but it sure seems to me like not calling the race when the outcome is obvious in states like PA and NV gives the president more time to spout misinformation.
Exclusive: Trump team planned a 'nationwide protest blocking bridges and highways' in 2016 to interfere with vote counting. Recent events in NJ, NYC, Texas, and Beverly Hills suggest he's at it again. https://t.co/MUqZuoZ13S
Here's a list of the times that final polls close in each state, along with the number of electoral votes each has listed in parentheses next to its name:
This is amazing: 100,298,838 ballots have been cast in early voting (not Election Day ballots). Nationally, voters have cast 72.8% of the total votes counted in the 2016 general election, per US Elections Project.
