@justaguy0507 Thanos needed IW to be properly fleshed out, but the film wouldn't have worked nearly as well if we didn't already know how the stones worked and how powerful they were. It was the baseline the film needed, and it's one Doomsday just flat out doesn't have.

Several of the films leading up to IW revolved around the power these stones had to the extent that the Thanos after-credits only had to say "This guy is trying to get them all" to feel like solid buildup.
