I’ve tried to write this multiple times but have come up short every time. It’s very difficult because I have no way to get back what I’ve lost.

On December 22, 2024, was the 10th anniversary of the day I was injured in Iraq. I took a blow to the head while we were off loading equipment and personal at Baghdad International Airport. What ended up happening afterwards has been the most difficult and tragic experience of my life.

I was seen by an Air Force Dr who literally put in the notes, “Mortar Tube dropped on head…” however, he never sent me off for any testing, MRIs, CTs, X-rays… anything. Just cleared me to fly and gave me ibuprofen. What I can remember is what appears to have been the symptoms of a severe concussion.

I experienced pain in my right arm and especially my elbow, but based off the doctor’s evaluation, it was supposed to go away… it never has. I continued to fight through and do what most men do, work.

When it became apparent that the pain was not going away, I went and saw a specialist. He said it was just something he would send me to PT for so I decided I would continue on. He like the other Dr didn’t check the head or injuries.

While I was on my next mission, all of the sudden, my right arm couldn’t grip anymore. That was the first sign of the major nerve damage that nobody had even attempted to find.

That was the major beginning of what would lead to the USAF absolutely trashing my life!

The unit I was with decided to not put the head injury on my LOD. I fought with them for so long about it and add the head trauma, and I somehow managed to change head injury in my correspondence to knee injury. I received absolutely zero help from anyone! They decided they didn’t want to pay for anything, against the AFI. They decided they would try and hide my official doctors documentation from Iraq/ Qatar. They even investigated me, but never investigated the unit that never tried to help me.

I went from walking, to walking with a cane to a walker to being bedridden within a 3 year period. I lost my family that I adored, my careers that I loved and have pretty much never been able to get close to being the same. Friends and family said if I were really hurt, the USAF would have taken care of me. Well, that’s not true.

The medboard was an automatic 100% after they were notified by the attorney that the unit FAILED TO PUT THE HEAD INJURY ON THE LOD. After paying for my own insurance and medical bills from 2015 until 2020, I then came under the VA after I finally was permitted to have my Medboard. No, you do not get your military retirement and VA benefits. It’s one or the other.

The VA has been a fight and a nightmare ever since I started. Imagine having to be in immense pain daily, with a head injury, and having to beg people for help to just be able to live a normal life.

As of right now, I have fought back and am trying hard to get life back. Positivity can only get you so far. The VA has been so incompetent that it’s as if you’re talking to a wall. I keep trying… idk what else to do.

Not that this matters and people will probably say some really bad things and he won’t even see this, but something needs to be done… @realDonaldTrump
