Roundabouts present a considerable hazard to cyclists. As well as the risk of road defects on and around roundabouts, there’s the added hazard of drivers not seeing cyclists and also of drivers in the wrong lane.

We're hearing more education and awareness is needed for road users in order to protect the vulnerable after 69-year-old Paul Mowat was sentenced yesterday for hitting and killing cyclist Emma Burke Newman, who was 22, in his lorry last January.

Despite her being in a bike box investigators concluded Emma had placed herself in a vulnerable position as Mr Mowat had also passed the Advanced Stop Line at the Broomielaw traffic lights.

Jodi Gordon from @law_cycle represented Emma's family.
