URGENT PUBLIC ALERT: WHERE IS CHRISTIN WANJIRU?
For purposes of public record, accountability and pursuit of justice, the Kenya Union of Clinical Officers (KUCO) wishes to bring to the attention of Kenyans and relevant State and human-rights institutions the disturbing circumstances surrounding the reported arrest and subsequent disappearance from known police custody of Christin Wanjiru, a Clinical Officer serving under the County Government of Kajiado.
KUCO has received information that Christin was arrested by police officers and taken to Kitengela Police Station, where she was allegedly detained without being promptly informed of the reasons for her arrest.
More disturbing, the Union subsequently received information that she was removed from Kitengela Police Station and picked up in the Subaru vehicle appearing in the attached photograph.
Her destination and current whereabouts are unknown.
This raises extremely serious constitutional and legal questions.
OCS KITENGELA POLICE STATION: WHERE IS CHRISTIN WANJIRU?
The police must immediately account for:
▪️ Why was Christin arrested?
▪️ Was her arrest and detention formally booked and recorded?
▪️ What was the OB/reference entry relating to her arrest and detention?
▪️ Who were the arresting officers?
▪️ Who authorised her removal from Kitengela Police Station?
▪️ Was she formally released or transferred?
▪️ To whom was she handed over?
▪️ Where was she being taken?
▪️ Who currently has custody of her?
▪️ Is Christin Wanjiru safe?
Article 49 of the Constitution of Kenya guarantees an arrested person the right to be promptly informed of the reason for arrest and to communicate with an advocate and other persons whose assistance is necessary.
Further, Article 244 of the Constitution demands professionalism, discipline, transparency and accountability from the National Police Service.
A Kenyan citizen cannot simply be arrested, held at a police station and thereafter be removed from known police custody without the responsible authorities being able to account for who took her, where she was taken and under whose lawful authority.
If Christin was lawfully transferred to another police station, investigative agency or other lawful custody, that information must be disclosed immediately.
KUCO therefore calls upon @NPSOfficial_KE@PoliceKE@DCI_Kenya@InteriorKE@IPOA_KE and @IAU_Kenya to urgently establish and disclose Christin Wanjiru's whereabouts and ensure her safety.
We further call upon @HakiKNCHR@LawSocietyofKe@AmnestyKenya@thekhrc@DefendersKe and @ODPP_KE to urgently intervene, document this matter and demand accountability from all officers and agencies involved.
To members of the public:
This is no longer merely a question about an arrest but fidelity to the law.
IT IS A QUESTION OF WHERE A KENYAN CITIZEN IS AFTER BEING LAST REPORTED IN POLICE CUSTODY.
The National Police Service is constitutionally required to protect life, liberty and human dignity and to remain accountable to the people of Kenya.
CHRISTIN WANJIRU MUST BE ACCOUNTED FOR IMMEDIATELY.
WHERE IS CHRISTIN WANJIRU?
WHO TOOK HER FROM KITENGELA POLICE STATION?
UNDER WHOSE AUTHORITY?
WHERE IS SHE NOW?
THE POLICE MUST ACCOUNT NOW.

They are going too far. If they don't release @Dr_AustinOmondi unconditionally then we shall all stop working and demonstrate for his release and many others detained illegally.
#FreeDrAustin#FreeJaprado denied employment but heeded the call and oath when he saw young Kenyans being injured by our government. We must not relent until he is released✊🏿🇰🇪 #RejectFinanceBill2024
Is anyone hiring a diploma holder in business management? A friend reached out to me in the DMs; he lost his job last year, and the situation is very difficult for his young family that he has to fend for. He has previous experience as a corporate sales executive at an IT firm. Any links, connections, or opportunities would be greatly appreciated. #IkoKaziKE
