This scene is a masterpiece, it’s basically a textbook depiction of ego death. The shattering of a grand illusion, that desperate final attempt to prove the lie right and then the total psychological collapse. Essential viewing.
Unpopular opinion: I don't think your life has to have a purpose, or you a grand ambition; I think it's okay to just wander through life finding interesting things until you die
THE IPCRESS FILE (1965) is a masterclass in “frame within the frame” cinematography.
Director Sidney J. Furie and cinematographer Otto Heller turned doors, windows, lamps, shelves, file cabinets, walls, and foreground objects into visual architecture.
The result is not just “cool framing.” It changes how we watch the film.
Michael Caine’s Harry Palmer is constantly boxed in, observed, obstructed, and trapped inside layers of bureaucracy and espionage. The compositions make the audience feel like we are spying on the spy.
Every frame has tension. Composition is story.
In On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969), the ice car race was filmed on a playing field in Switzerland, which was flooded with water every night to turn to ice.
Unfortunately, the weather was so mild it kept defrosting during the day, which delayed filming.
Despite the difficulties, the sequence became one of the most iconic and technically impressive car chases in the Bond series, especially given the lack of modern CGI.
The food replicators in Star Trek would never work because in reality when someone ordered “Earl Grey hot” i would yell over their shoulder “with cum in it” because it would be hilarious
Romeo Is Bleeding (1993) - Pure 90s neo-noir fire. Gary Oldman as a dirty cop spiraling way out of control, Lena Olin delivering one of the most dangerous femme fatales ever, and the whole film soaked in style, violence, and pitch-black humor.
Very good decision to cut this lol, Vader says "you constructed your own lightsaber" let's you speculate and fill in the blanks of what Luke was doing between movies. This scene tells you he slapped it together 2 seconds before going to Jabbas palace, incredibly stupid
At the end of #Jaws and Duel, the sound effect is the same (a #Godzilla roar) as director Steven Spielberg wanted to show the kinship between the two films.
