Communication 101
Good morning everyone ( friends, foes, countrymen)
There is a significant amount of misinformation being disseminated on social media. Various false narratives about issues and individuals are being spread. Constructive debates and criticisms are essential to democracy, which is founded on freedom of expression and speech. However, some users on social media behave like pseudo-authoritarians, sharing opinions on all subjects but labelling any differing viewpoints as insults. On this platform, there are individuals who do not tolerate criticism yet promote highly stringent ideas and opinions. Others serve specific parochial purposes and consider themselves above criticism or misrepresent any form of disagreement as an insult.
Attempting to present a neutral argument can attract criticism, and it is possible that we are now not fully aware of what constitutes an insult. Consequently, every criticism of a particular viewpoint is often labelled as such. Personally, social media has been a valuable tool, whether we like it or not. It has been used to change lives, promote public awareness, prosecute successful election campaigns, project government policies and actions and share information in real time. We have received, particularly for those in politics, sometimes very constructive feedback and other times valuable information, as well as harsh disagreement and criticism. It is important to remember that as often as we criticise, we will be subjected to strict scrutiny and questions will be raised.
There are some very serious authors on these platforms, influential individuals whose opinions shape our viewpoints and even impact our actions. We should be fair enough to receive as much as we dish out on occasion. Some have criticised influential people and leading figures very harshly, using their utterances and writings to destroy reputations without apologising for their actions. It is your right to express your opinions on any subject. However, it is equally important to recognise that others have the same right to express their disapproval, displeasure and disagreement.
Indeed, some constructive criticism can be worse than subtle or even outright insults.
There are various levels of criticism ranging from respectful and scholarly comments to dismissive remarks and outright insults. It is important to note that social media users are a minority and the majority of the population does not use the platform. You are free to criticise and receive criticism; this is the essence of social media and democracy.
If you feel aggrieved or believe your rights have been violated, seek legal redress. It is important to remember that our beliefs and opinions are not necessarily absolute.!

They made a $2.8 billion injection in the same period last year, and the cedi still couldn't appreciate. This should tell you that it is not only about throwing dollars into the market to stabilize the cedi, but also about prudent management and strict adherence to fiscal discipline. #AbanPapaAba

Happy Ghana Day!
Drawing inspiration from Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, TEAM OGIDI reiterates that the independence of Ghana is meaningless unless it is totally linked with the total liberation of all graduate students in Ghana. May this day remind us that one day,
