So, what is it that makes remote work, work?

Wanting to work remote and having remote work for the business are two different things.

As an exec coach, I've worked with companies with upwards of 500 remote employees, and they've done a beautiful job building a strong culture and having a thriving company.

Yet, I've also worked with companies who have struggled to make remote work for them. Remote work isn't about just giving flexibility to your team. It's not about having so much balance that work and productivity suffers. It's also not about having employees on the clock 24/7.

So, again, I'll ask, what is it that makes remote work, work?

1 - Clear Business Operating System
2 - Solid Expectations & Agreements
3 - Trustworthy & Accountable People
4 - Business Model that Makes Fiscal Sense
5 - Metrics in Place to Predict Success
6 - Clarity in Roles, Responsibilities, & Goals
7 - Outcomes - Work is On Track and On Budget

I can go on, but you get the point.

Remote work isn't just about flexibility and fun. It's also not about driving your people into the ground - where they feel they can never leave their computer.

If you don't have clarity on your business strategy, your 'Company Way', and how you best serve your customers... AND... how all of this works in a remote/hybrid work environment, then don't expect remote work to work for you.
